Ancient Aliens theory is a psyop

(Not talking about the TV show, more just the theory in general, though the TV show doesn't help)

Okay so one thing that's always bugged me about Ancient Aliens is its basically, "replace the supernatural or fantastical with something sciencey-sounding."

It goes back to my earlier thread about science being a thought-limiter. Oh, there's no gods who throw lightning bolts, it was actually some sort of raygun. Oh, they couldn't actually fly, they had anti-gravity devices. Inherently it also takes away any meaning to mankind's existence by saying we were either some dumbass scientist's experiment, or else pet monkeys that some space people took interest in.

Once you start seeing the pattern, you can't unsee it.

"Ancient Aliens" was an glorified ad for "Chariot of the Gods" than anything else. Speaking of which, I think the History Channel was going through an drought of new documentaries, at the time.

So the psy-op here is to replace "magical" stuff, with something that's only effectively magic via being unrealistically advanced technology?

People know magic doesn't exist, and if it did exist it would just be a natural law and therefore wouldn't be magic.
That means pretending aliens did shit is a way for them to deal with that; the aliens just fill the role gods would have in olden times, but via alien tech.

It's effectively the same thing anyways. There is something greater than us with a power that follows laws beyond our comprehension that makes things we find difficult to understand happen.

Idk how it's more offensive that aliens came to earth and made the pyramids or created humans, than that fire exists because some dude on mount Olympus came down and gave it to us, or that the sun rises every day because someone on a chariot pulls it across the sky.

Seems like a somewhat autistic distinction.

People know magic doesn't exist,
Do they know that? Considering there's active paranormal topics in this section, I think there may be people who aren't so sure. And I myself have had experiences that could not be explained in any scientific way.

You call it an autistic distinction, but I think it matters. The science view tends to inherently imply that just owning the most toys makes you powerful. A more paranormal/magical view defies that. So I can see why people might want to encourage one and discourage another.

Transdimensional aliens being the explanation for things like ghosts and ESP would be an upgrade for supernatural phenomena. And yes that angle is being pushed heavily. It's like a big tent for all the believers right now.

The opposite is true, it's the New Age's fishing line for atheists, where they use a minor compromise to fit neopaganistic ideas into the modern worldview. What's the ultimate message of this narrative? The gods of yore are REAL, and SUPERIOR, and maybe (definitely) they're STILL OUT THERE.

The Catholic Church created the Ancient Alien conspiracy and bankrolled the television shows in order to retain power if Aliens are discovered.

Yeah, shit was kind of decent for leaving it on as background noise. As for the rest and it's current line-up; not so much, except for Pawn Stars
Pawn Stars have always been good, i also liked American Pickers before Mike Wolfe turned into a greedy asshole and snaked his long time co-host Frank Fritz who later died.

I had actually wondered if biblically accurate angels were spaceships. 🛸

I think its just people being retarded rather than some crazy government psyop designed to accomplish x y and z.

You kinda hit on another part of it though:

"Government."

Why is our first thought always that the government are behind everything? After all, we know for a fact our government is a bunch of incompetent nitwits. Besides, a lot of the greatest societal changes we've experienced tended to come from outside the government anyway.

The only part of anything I would put at the feet of Government is "they want you to think the government is behind it." That gives them the double-whammy of stroking their ego and also scaring the less intelligent citizens into compliance, after all.

But realistically? The kind of subtlety we see, plus being able to pull it off without it coming apart, would suggest either A) a group of people who are all literally the incarnation of Zhuge Liang and Mycroft Holmes, or B).... supernatural forces.

And there is that old saying, "the greatest lie Satan ever told was convincing the world he did not exist."

pretty sure that the US already finished off all of the aliens

they werent fighting brown people all these years
y'see, the annunaki were actually bodysnatching aliens, and iraq had a stargate (the show is a coverup made by the pentagon/CIA/whatever)

(they are probebly not called the goa'uld as that'd be too on the nose, but i'd refer to them as such)

ziggurats are landing platforms

9/11 was an orbital bombardment, with the US seeing it in advance on the hubble space telescope, and crashing a few planes at the tower at the exact same time as the orbital projectile would hit it, it also gave them an excuse to fund a "war on terror", it wasnt middle-eastern terror, it was extra-terrestrial terror

all the US veterans from 1991 to 2021 are paid actors, the US space force is the reason that every piece of US

military equipment is so overpriced, 90% of the cost goes towards blasting goa'uld motherfuckers with nukes
also NGAD uses a lot of reverse-engineered goa'uld tech, how do u think it's gonna be stealthy when it has fuckin CANARDS)

HOWEVER, im pretty sure they killed all the goa'uld by now, so don't expect any contact to be made

Aliens still make more sense than the tired 1600s trope of Omg the Devul did it Hurrrrrrr.

Aliens are a reach, but garden gnomes really are even less likely to be real, as much as I would want sentient gardening equipment that doesn't get liberates by a Lincoln chimpout.

Ancient aliens and most other alt-history theories fall into the same camp as most conspiracy theories.
When faced with a choice between mundane but unintuitive (eg. "Stone age people were capable of some impressive feats of engineering") or fantastic but more intuitive (eg. "They had some sort of outside help from more advanced beings") it's sort of in our nature to lean towards the latter.

It's the same sort of thinking that leads people to look at funny looking contrails and proclaim them as evidence that the government is poisoning us rather than the result of complex atmospheric phenomena that they are.
