They lobbied to regulate independent producers out of business and deregulate their own processing plants to the point they have huge fires and disease outbreaks and get to use child labor and shit.

Big corporations in burgerland get to tailor the rules specifically to whatever will benefit them most.

Unsure if I ever fantasized about that.
But I did read the Dune series, where a femael species, the Honored Matres, invaded and took over large parts of the galaxy, one of their methods being sex slaving the males. Skillful shit, y'know?
However!
One dude named Duncan Idaho, due to some scifi plot armor, was able to resist one of these hoes male eating abilities and imprint her ass instead, so they remained in some sort of mutual bondage. You know I like fraternizing with the opposite sex and harmony!
Regardless, the mantis males often escape the femael predation, according to the science™️
Apparently, only few subspecies engage in it, and well fed females are often too lazy and bored to bother, so the male can make a sneaky escape - and have sex!
It's important to observe that the femael mantis are much larger than the male and they kinda fat.
That alone disqualifies them from fantasy stuff for me. Although the subconscious male eating urban legend does remain and has cultural impact.
Very beautiful insects, highly predatory. In the summer I watch for them on the trees when I run. They are shy and would go to the opposite side of the tree so I won't take pics. They can stay relatively motionless for hours if there's a nice place to hunt, only to lunge at prey and eat it.

You know that's just the female mantises letting the males think they outsmarted the system, right? Stacy M., Becky M., and all their friends had a good laugh about it, then sent Regina M. out to lure him in and bite off his head before he put so much as one spindly leg on her. Then they welcomed her back home with a "go, girl!" chant.
