As I recall, Hartman's wife was a recovering addict, Andy gave her cocaine at a party, she relapsed and killed Phil and herself. I'm pretty sure there's a more in depth explanation further up in the thread, or you could Google around.

My best friend is an artist on Instagram whom Dick contacted for website design work years ago. She described him as a complete flake who never followed up on his requests, and started trying to get personal when she didn't respond to his delayed excuses for lack of information. He still follows her and watches her stories, despite no contact for a few years. She says he still messages her randomly, trying to make small talk. He usually leaves several messages before getting the hint and moving on. Yet he always comes back. My friend believes she's one of several women he's been ineptly "working on."

Yes after Phil’s death a drunken Andy ran into Lovitz at a comedy club and had the absolute gall to say “ I’m putting the Phil Hartman curse on you. You’re next.” At which point Lovitz had more than enough and he cleaned Andy’s clock with a right hook. He’s lucky that Lovitz didn’t continue beating him until he was a a pile of gay mush.
