So update, there's obviously something going on with the comment section on his video but I couldn't figure out what. Well, it seems like Ian's a clever boy (not clever enough to dump this nasty skank) and has pulled a trick I've never encountered on YouTube:
People were claiming he was deleting comments, but those comment appear to still exist, they just get shuffled off the top comments display: well if you look at the times when filtered by top comment you'll notice there isn't a single one older than 20 minutes, and to test I sat for a few minutes refreshing and predictably as soon as a comment hits 20 minutes bam, it disappears from the top comments.

I'm assuming this is a means of preventing anyone from reading those mean 2.5k liked comments outlining all the ways his girlfriend is trash so he can suppress the comment section without the additional reputation damage of just turning off comments.

He's really working overtime to sink any good will people had for him. Tbh it just keeps getting worse: one's GF being an e-whore is not as bad as publicly defending a disloyal backstabber who has 0 respect for you is not as bad as trying to control what people say about you, especially considering his more free-speech oriented viewerbase.
