Don’t be such a twat.

macOS 27 is free, just fucking upgrade if you want the features instead of whining about wanting those features like a retarded faggot.
MacOS has been free for 13 years, I get your point but it's not out of order to bring up issues like UI design getting worse when Apple's whole thing on MacOS in the past WAS ABOUT IT. The small detail to attention in UI was a staple of their design philosophy for decades. To say that it seems like there's a decline in that or that perhaps they've shifted away from that is a fair thing to bring up. It cascades into things like why Music for example is considered a joke. It's a departure from that old design philosphy and it makes users frustrated, I know damn well i'm not alone in this. Why exactly are you taking umbrage a person expressing issues with changes on a thread about said company and it's products? Can a guy not shoot the shit about changes he doesn't like? Why don't you chill out dude.

The interface in 27 is fine, I have been using it since the first public beta.

You haven’t used it and therefore have no valid opinion on it.

Just because I don't daily it doesn't mean I haven't used it. I did try out Tahoe and later 27 on an external drive. The interface is fine to you, it isn't to me. Notice how I'm not disparaging your opinion. Neither of us is the arbiter of what a "valid" opinion is. Get off your high horse dude.

Did you do any customization?

Did you do any customization?
Yes. Like most others I know I turned the liquid glass to tinted as much as possible and then further reduced transparency. I also did some things in terminal that I've done for ages like lowering animation speeds to be instant in the case of things like the dock, windows, etc. I also disabled Siri flat out and other AI as I always do. My main issues are that the UI design of things isn't unified as it's been in the past, this is most readily apparent when you resize things in finder just off the top of my head. Mission control was just straight fucked as well. Music is still fucked in that doing things requires going through layers of menus that you shouldn't have to and didn't in the past. Liquid glass in general I think has been a misstep. Mind you I think that it could've been well received if they didn't make errors in legibility. Rare that Apple will ever walk back UI changes but here we are.

EDIT: Now that I think about it more, another issue that I had is that the UI elements, let's keep using finder as an example, have wasted space and more exaggerated/rounded elements, which take up space and cause issues with other elements when resizing, Mind you that the rounding isn't done uniformly as well which makes it look out to place when it doesn't. Is this a small nitpick? Yes, Does it to me indicate that Apple is perhaps losing it's touch when it comes to great UX design, yes. To speculate if they are adding touch input to macOS I guess that makes sense to a degree, but to then make the UI more like iOS would be a disservice to predominately mouse users unless they rectify this issue, which I hope they would.

I just reassembled a 2013 Mac Pro for the third time and I'm still alive.
I have to swap the CMOS battery in my 2012 Mac Pro Server.

Pray for me.

It’s either going to boot again with the replaced battery, or I have a beautiful aluminum boat anchor with 64GB of RAM I bought just before prices went insane.

Out of interest what are you using the server for? Testing? Learning? Playing?
Home media server/torrent mule. It’s got a 6TB drive for torrents and a 20TB for movies, TV shows and ROM and ISO files for emulation.

I may set it up as local DNS/routing for my Starlink connection if I get ambitious or bored enough.

do you run the iso on the unit or just store?
Depends on what I’m running the game on. I’ve remote mounted ISOs on my laptop since it’s got limited storage, and in most emulators you can even use faster loading for PS1 and PS2 on a WiFi 6 network with no performance hit with the server hardwired to the router.

th9is is interesting
I did it as an experiment just to see if it was feasible, and was really surprised how well it works.

Of course, for small cart-based games you basically just load the full ROM into system RAM on whatever you’re playing from and it works as you’d expect it to normally.

For CD-based and DVD-based games it all depends on your network, so if you’re using the shitty router your ISP gave you, your mileage may vary wildly. I have an ASUS gaming router that turned out to be really great for a random pawn shop buy. I haven’t got things running again since getting Starlink, so I’ll see how well that works once the server is back online.

The Server is a 2011 Mac Pro Server with a quad-core and 64GB RAM and dual gigabit NICs onboard, connected via single Cat-6 line.
