Ive never actually seen an example of a TERF and wonder if it’s a boogyman for the trans community. I’ve met women that don’t support trans, but they aren’t feminists and don’t support feminism either.

Post examples of real TERFs plz

It's real and a boogy man.

Many women are very much pro women, from radicial fem nazis to girls who just want some help in regards to services etc, along that long list from crazy to reasonable, you'll find many who don't want men in drag pushing them out of the spotlight or putting them at risk. Frankly TERFs even of the most insane all men should die, are at least more honest they care about women issues, since trannies and troons aren't women.

Yes, but are there known TERFs or TERF communities?
I can't say I could name any but since feminist is a broad term from very reasonable women who like or use the term when are equalists or feel some social systems have favortism against them or are lacking. To bat shit women who just want the world to cave for them. As a man, and sane person I can't and don't interact with the latter.

I can say I know some girls like or use the term feminist, and I dunno what little clubs or groups /sites they use since I'm a dude and don't care.

Its a word like "nazi" in many ways. Obviously there are neo nazis that exist, but their presence is massively overstated and overestimated, and most the time the word is just used against anyone who dares disagree with a batshit SJW

That being said, TERFs still hold a small yet noticably fanatical fiefdom in old school feminist circles, and in those who were cucking themselves to pander to said circles back in the 90s and even 80s. This is why you get JK rowling quietly liking angry TERF tweets (and then claiming she was drunk when she clicked them) and the likes of Graham linehan try to fight a pitched war against all SJWs to try and bully them into hating trannies as much as he does

They're not common, but they're out there. I actually like them for the same reason I like tankies - they're pieces of shit of course but the way they school troons is glorious just like how tankies school college commies and make them cry to their mommies whenever they bring up Stalin imagery is glorious.
I'm talking about actual self-identified card-carrying TERFs of course, not any plain feminist who strays the line from ultra-SJW ideology just a teeny bit and gets called that.

I gotta agree with OP, I only know about TERFs in textbook knowledge, no field experience.

If somebody called me a TERF though I’d laugh. I didn’t even know it was a slur.

From my understanding, TERF is a word that is used against any feminist who points out that biological sex is a material reality that you cannot wish away and who is concerned about states all over the West changing the definition of what constitutes a male and a female so that gender is superordinate to sex (as this affects legal texts, sex-segregated areas like prisons and changing rooms... pretty much all of society). As for whether they actually hate trans people, are radical or are wrong, that seems to be less important

Yeah. They are. Or they were. Not even like "conservative" feminists. Full on dykey-dyke-dyke "everything is misogyny" feminists had no interest in bringing trannies into womanhood.

See Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, which was the largest collection of lesbians outside of a softball league, yet did not invite people who cut off their wieners.

I mean, given the space that TERFs inhabit, I wish that most of them were deserving of such a generous description. There was that one so-called TERF that was on a Skeptic Feminist stream on a couple of occasions that seemed to have reasonable concerns about the presence of biological males in women's space, but I don't believe her representative of the exceptional individuals/loudest voices which spew irrational hate, and that's what you're likely to find in the experiences of trans women who have encountered them (distorted as said experiences may be by perception). At this point , the negative connotations are too entrenched for the accuracy of the term to matter too much (and let's face it, 'TERF' still a more precise term than 'SJW')

I thought they let passing trans women into Mich Fest? Just not the non-passing ones, because there was a lot of topless women around and they didn't want dudes pretending to be trans so they could leer. I could be wrong though

They were officially against it as the point was "womyn" born as women. They only kicked out a tranny once, but I don't believe ever actually changed policy. Some trannies did attend though.
