Hey guys I'd imagine some of you play or have played,I noticed it's on sale for XBOX ONE right now and been wanting to try it. So I wonder, would you recommend it or advise avoiding it?
how bad is the "Pay to Win" factor?
Is it one of those games where "noobs" get harassed incessantly and unavoidably by stronger older players?
and I guess lastly: Do you have any tips or good tutorial referrals for a player starting out?

feel free to answer any or all of these, individually. All constructive feedback is appreciated!

It's not really pay to win
the DLC is 20$ each for I think 2 or so expansions or maps (Scorched Earth, Aberration but they're huge maps that I think are kinda worth it)
Expect to die a lot and I'd recommend testing the waters in single player before diving into the crazy shit pool that is the online servers
It does get a bit boring after a while but that's just my experience

thx for the feedback, and yea not only is the game on sale but i think the expansions are like $12 apiece now instead of $20,but you say they're basically just extra maps?
and yea theres micro's now,a bunch of $1-20 evolved dinosaurs (mounts i guess?) from what i saw.
there's a single player mode!?!? PIMP!

It's more a "host your own private server" type of thing if you don't want to play online with others. If it's on sale right now, I'd snag it while you can so that way you can reduce the amount of regret later if you ever start to get bored or end up hating the game

Scorched Earth and Aberration are their own maps. Both are quite difficult to get through on a solo play and come with their own unique dinosaurs and creatures. There are also the free maps which is The Center and Ragnarok (It's free for the PC. Not sure if the same applies to Xbox)

I'm not sure about paying for dinosaurs since I've been kind of out of the community for some time

yea im gonna get tomorrow when paycheck posts to account... and yea i get you, that's fine too point being I can definitely see it being one of those games where some smartass keeps one-shot killing you every 5 minutes while you're trying to learn, easily the worst aspect of most of these types of games. but then I may well be biased against multiplayer in it's modern form to begin with, since when I started out gaming "multiplayer" meant stocking up on chips and soda and inviting 1-3 people you actually knew and (presumably) liked over to your house, lol

you can ride a t-rex while firing a machine gun

what do you think?

lmao,very succinctly put.
idgaf bout dinos I just like the whole survival,base-building,sandbox type stuff among other things. Unfortunately it's one of the game genres where there's a handful of shining examples VS. a veritable landfill worth of absolute turds.

I still think I'm going to try it,worst case scenario I wiped my arse with $25 instead of $60. Kinda goes with the territory in gaming nowadays...

Game is only good if you plan on trolling others, if you're Sims faggot who just wanna diddle a raptor you gonna have a bad time, also it's better if you have a huge group of people before hand, solo wolf on ARK requires a lot of real life time and hiding like a mushroom for the most.
Ark runs like complete trash on the best of computers, I shudder to think of how it'd run on a console. If you're going to get it I advise getting it on PC.
Last time I played (like a year ago) was getting an average 50-60 FPS on my office PC, phenom x3 processor, Nvidia GTX 1050 and 8gb RAM, it's my internet browser potato. But (huge but) some people with far better computers report that runs like shit, so optimization is out for vacations, one thing is for sure, ARK loves Nvidia cards.

Beware, the base game with some maps is being sold, but the popular maps you gotta buy them too.

One thing to notice is that console peasants like yourself stand in the forgotten realm of updates, bad customer service and hideous graphs, you get a shitty game way different than the one for PC.

PS: Just in case, if you're an autistic fuck who yells at people that headshot you on any game, don't buy it, you'll end up in some random asylum, seriously, getting killed in ARK hurts more than getting teabagged on any other game.

thanks for the input on that, isn't really an option tho since my laptop is pretty junky,I doubt it would even run it. actually console versions are *usually* less problem ridden, only for the fact that they automatically know exactly what hardware they're dealing with and what it's limitations are.

lol is it really that aggravating? from what I've read up on it all you lose is your gear, you still keep levels and engrams unless playing Hardcore, which I'm obviously not going to do starting out.... i know people can destroy or grief buildings but like i mentioned earlier i will start if not play exclusively as host,so hopefully that shouldnt be too much of an issue.

The game is about dinosaurs, you gotta tame them, and if you want better dinos you gotta stat hunt the best wilds and breed them, you can get griefed, not big deal, just rebuild but some fuckers like myself love to kill everything that moves, and there's a lot of people like me there, your dinosaurs are gonna get killed, that's why getting fucked in ARK hurts more than any other game, breeding takes a lot of time, even on x5000 servers.

Also there's a lot of people who will try to "help" you just to know the coordinates of your base, your resources and then raid your ass when you're offline. Should've mentioned, this all applies to public pvp servers, if you plan to host with friends then you can enjoy it till you get bored, public pve servers are utter shit because you can't destroy other people's buildings, so if a troll decide to build a circle of pillars surrounding your shed preventing expansion... well tough luck fagget, you gonna have to move.

EDIT/// Fuck, I keep forgetting to add important bits, anyway, in all seriousness man, console support is beyond insulting, the game you're about to get for XBOX it's not the game advertised for PC, the amount of non solved bugs is mindblowing, do your google homework if you don't believe me, also you can download a pirated version to try it out on your laptop, to see if you can get it to run decently and to check if you like it.

alot of good info there,i appreciate it. And yea I looked some stuff up but for the most part ppl say no major issues lately (every game has a half dozen or more minor screwups they never bother to patch, and dont even get me STARTED on bethesda games!) but I do like your idea of seeing if i can wing it on my laptop thats a good suggestion.

And yea I know all about griefing, giving and receiving, and Promise You,Ark can't possibly be the worst,if you want a taste of the worst go look up a lil MMO crafter, base builder called "Salem" bases center around "claims" that you purchase with game currency and expand, theres also a "town claim" so if you have a group of friends and all want to work together that's possible,so here's the nasty:between making a pclaim and affording a tclaim (usually at least a month of work or more, depending on how active and efficient you are) if anyone else happens to discover your base and decided youve got enough stuff to be worthwhile, like a nice house, mining and smelting op,etc.... they just drop a tclaim and extend it over your pclaim and Voila! in one fell swoop you've lost your entire base AND all your buildings, stored tools and resources,lmao...

I don't know what is worse ARK or Monster Hunter World. They both suck and play about the same. Play Horizon or Nier: Automata instead if and when you can.

I actually have Monster hunter tri and yea it was pretty much a pain in the ass, controls were horrid was the main issue as i recall, although i mainly chalked it up to it being on the Wii....I have yet to find any particular compelling games on that console, even twilight princess and skyward sword (Zelda) were kind of Meh.
