Boutique PC company fails to give a free PC to one of its unknown affiliate streamers "kiapiaa", mocks her instead during a livestream, all hell breaks loose with JayzTwoCents, Linus Tech Tips, and others signal boosting it, and the company is effectively dead a week later.

Steve from Gamers Nexus was emailing the CEO and planning to fly to California to do an interview. Not anymore.

Was just coming to see if there was a thread on this after watching the Gundam video. What a colossal self-dick-stepping.

For those not watching the videos, this guy also was overdue on taxes and the company registration was no longer active - "Artesian Builds" did not legally exist. That, more than rigging a PC giveaway to make sure it went to an "influencer" with a sufficient number of followers live on stream, is probably the main reason they're suspending operations.

I think I remember these guys from when my brother was looking to buy a PC. I took a 30 second look at their builds and told him he'd be better off giving a homeless man 2k to find a Craigslist build. Surprised they were still around at all.

Did you see the CEO’s apology video where he’s literally angrily putting when he says anyone will be allowed to win?

paymoneywubby had an interview with the second dude who was building the PC on stream last night, the youtube video isn't up yet so all I can link right now is the twitch stream (sorry)

about 1 hour 50 into the stream

This is the kind of shit I love seeing, smug cunts getting fuck over by their own hubris. Makes me harder than a pair of nice titties ever could.↗️↗️↗️ Also the company is shutting down without, nobody is getting refunds to the point even Steve from GN said do a chargeback. There's also alot of speculation that discount Star Lord is gonna try to flee the country or something to avoid getting fucked by agencies like the irs due to the tax shit. I believe he will try to flee since he seems like the type to attempt it. I don't think he'll succeed since we've all seen that clearly he's an "alternative thinker" so his master plan might literally be "I'm gonna buy this plane ticket."

The dude is so fucking insufferable, beyond smug, like I got irrationally angry listening to him talk down to people. Employees have come out and said he was a psycho. Would bet he's got some weird shit going on.
Apparently the CFO, or some other high up position, was actually running the day to day. Tech Jesus (Steve) mentioned that in his video. They had a promo location in SF and another on the east coast. The latter took care of most of the builds while the SF office did promos and high profiles customers. The CFO ran the East Coast office and quit in 2019 or something b/c he disagreed with the CEO about the company's direction.

Follow-up video TL;DW. It's 32:50 long.
  • Ex-CEO Noah Katz is considering suing Gamers Nexus, and has changed his name. I think it's Noah Novik now.
  • Landlords let GN film in a warehouse in part because Artesian shut down days after moving in.
  • They had millions of dollars worth of PCs sitting around at times because they couldn't get GPUs to put in them during the GPU crisis. They sent employees around to go buy GPUs from retailers.
  • Artesian disputed PayPal payments to employees. An employee sold a 3070 Ti for $1120 to Artesian, Artesian disputed the transaction as fraudulent months later with PayPal and won. Something similar happened to a GN viewer and another employee.
  • Artesian had $2.1 million in assets, $4.1 million in liabilities at the time of closure.
  • As secured creditors, Katz's parents are among first in line to get their loans repaid. Up to $1.2 million.
  • Many customers are screwed, especially anybody who used a debit card.
  • The West coast location run directly by Katz had 2-2.5x the staff, but the East coast location built 5-10x the number of PCs per day. The West location would handle the builds for popular influencers and streamers and a small amount for normal customers. In the case of "Nickmercs" they shipped the build to the other branch to get the cabling cleaned up. It's implied more were sent over but not clear how frequently that happened. 10% of West coast builds had a defect, compared to 0.3-0.5% from East coast.
  • PhynixPC is a new company formed by East coast employees.
They mentioned in a different video that all of the auctioned off PCs were bought by a single buyer who wanted to work with customers, whatever that means.
