In my six years of crabbing I have only witnessed two crab fights and both happened on the same night. They don't fight over mates but same sized crabs may fight over shells if there's not enough available. To deal with fighting you can dip all the crabs in declorinated fresh water so they all smell the same and 99% of the time that solves the problem. Most of the time they get along quite well but sometimes there's aggression over food, especially with Blueberry crabs which are notorious for becoming aggressive near food.
They do remember the layout of a tank and actually instead of upsetting them changing it up every so often really interests them because they love exploring. If you add something new you can bet 10 minutes later there's gonna be 3 crabs checking it out. They can be taught to recognize their owner's voice and some cabs will even come out of hiding if their hear a familiar voice. They can also be taught to accept food from your hand (I've never gotten them to do this yet)
Large amounts of dairy products aren't good for them but they do enjoy cheese and yogurt in small amounts. They can't eat onions. chives, garlic or dill because members of that plant family are natural insect repellents and they just won't touch em. Really any inedible plant to humans or poisonous plant they won't eat
Prepare to make mistakes and have crabs die. Without the proper conditions they are very unforgiving animals to beginners. Be prepared to not go away on holiday with them because they need to be sprayed at least twice a day to keep the humidity up.
Nope, I think crab racing is exploitation so I never do it.
