I wasn't sure where to put this question, so apologies in advance if I'm wrong putting it here. I'm hoping some can shed some light on this...

What is it with people with Aspergers being fixated on the same certain things? Not only Sonic but Thomas The Tank Engine seems to be another one (hilariously spoofed on The Onion to boot). Why these things? Can anyone explain it or is it some sort of cosmic coincidence unexplained by medical science?

That's it? I mean, okay, Sonic is definitely colorful but isn't the Tank Engine mostly gunmetal grey?

I guess I expected some connecting feature, somehow but Sonic seems like a hyperactive ADHD cartoon and the other like a slow-moving British fable. They seem opposite.

Thomas could be slow and relaxing. Some people who are the spectrum also love trains.

In real life yeah, but aren't the tank engines in the Thomas the Tank Engine show more colorful than that though?
And maybe there isn't a real elaborate connection to Aspies and Sonic so much as it is that spergs tend to like colorful/collectible things and Sonic is a colorful game/cartoon with an element of collection. Same with Thomas, MLP, Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts/maybe other Didney stuff, etc.

Autistic children love spinning things. Combining these two attracts them.
