Atari have forgotten that RollerCoaster Tycoon world ever existed and have announced a brand new game in the series. It's coming to switch which makes sense because it's the type of game that'd really fit a handheld console that you whip out for 15-30 minutes and then put back onto sleep mode.

Two catches though:
First of all it doesn't even exist in development yet and they're currently trying to crowdfund investment. Donating nearly $1000 will get you 25% off your own copy of the final game!
Second of all: It's a port of the mobile game. The free to play one, not Rollercoaster Tycoon classic

If you want to see the fundraiser make no money, you can go check their StartEngine page right now, or their pitching video with a misleading thumbnail and hilarious CGI background

This screams scam so hard.

Agreed. Pledging nearly $1000 only gets you a 25% discount?

What could possibly cost that much when it comes to porting a shitty phone game that you need $1000 donations

This shit is never getting made and autistic/gullible RollerCoaster Tycoon fans (the "autistic" bit is unnecessary I guess, because who else plays Tycoon games) are getting taken for the ruse cruise of a lifetime.

Atari rebooted a couple of years back after Infogrames shit itself and died. With that they've tried rebooting all of their top IPs with each and every single one of them being a critical and commercial flop, so much so that some have been delisted including Haunted House and one attempt to turn Asteroids into Rust. I wish I was kidding.

At this point -Especially after RCTW crashed and burned literally a day before Planet Coaster came out to the point that they dont even mention the game on the kickstarter- the money is probably running dry and they're trying to get unsuspecting suckers into investing in a title that they claim will sell on title alone so they wont go bankrupt.

The last major success Atari ever published was the first Witcher game in North America, bringing a completely unknown IP in North America across the Atlantic and paving the way for it to become a critical and financial success beloved by gamers...

So successful that CD Projekt skipped Atari and published the next games by themselves, leaving Atari in the dust.

Atari has also been stumbling over their upcoming home console, the "Ataribox". They've made a lot of nice mock-ups but bizarrely it's literally all for show. It doesn't do anything. Nobody knows what kinds of games it's supposed to play. Atari hasn't provided details on whether or not it's a new home console, something like an Atari version of the NES Classic, or some combination of the two. (There are no cartridge slots present on any of the mock designs so chances are it's not something intended to be backwards compatible with ~30 year old games.)

Worst of all everything I've read about the Ataribox points to it needing to be "crowdfunded", which means that it's probably going to be a massive disaster. That's a shame because I'd really enjoy something modern from Atari.

You can always watch “Blade Runner 2049.”

The whole premise of Atari trying to claw its way back into the console scene has been so surreal to watch.

The mock-ups are shit. No one has a clear and concise idea what the console will do, including Atari.

It is kind of shitty to watch giants fall but progress I guess.

First, watch this video about the Atari Gameband, and the scam the people behind it had pulled before it:

The Ataribox has a lot of the same people involved, including the dude in the Gameband pitch video being the Ataribox frontman. HMMMM I wonder if the Ataribox is also not a super legit project...

I don't know if it's really clear how involved the company that now calls itself Atari is attached to these projects. They may just be whoring their name out. But it either case, it's clear they are willing to do anything to get some bucks.

I would rather throw my money at AMD, you get a better return on your investment now days. (You could have made bank on their stocks before Ryzen came out )

Isn't Atari now owned by a LGBT company? That should fire up a lot of red flags.
