The 427 is rare and expensive. It's bigger brother, the 460, is cheaper then ass and has way more performance parts available.View attachment 868652View attachment 868653View attachment 868654View attachment 868655View attachment 868656View attachment 868657View attachment 868658View attachment 868659
Here’s my ‘69 Mustang I’m going to start up again once I relocate. My pops bought it for me after my 84 Mercedes 190D (RIP 12/83-6/14) was destroyed by a teenager running a stop sign. I plan on getting a fastback body kit and would love to build a 427 Cammer or Boss 429 engine. Overall plans are a nice sleeper, and weekend cruiser for the wife and I
Benefit of sand land - you guys have so many cheap classics. $3-4K impalas sitting in junkyards jut waiting to be brought back to life. All we have in salt country are 80s and 90s shitheaps and any 60s car is going to command 10k+ if it runs under its own power, 9K if it doesnt. I could buy a 65 impala sedan with a 283/2 speed that doesnt run and leaks everywhere for $4k, or get a 2 door hardtop with a 454 big block and 4 speed auto conversion for $3K, including new paint job down in texas. The 460 is a big bitchin motor, but I really want to build a replica Cammer or Boss 429 engine since I rarely see them and was a childhood dream. Found these heads https://jonkaaseracingengines.com/shop/boss-nine-parts/kaase-boss-nine-cylinder-heads/ for the Boss and here are Bill Coon http://www.billcooncylinderhead.com/index.html heads for the Cammer. Just depends on what the budget calls for when it comes time. Till then, I’ll just run the 302 that’s in it now since its a good engine. I have a list of everything, I was about to pull the trigger till I decided to get my house ready for market so my wife and I can move to another state. Sick of the desert
Please dont tell me you are moving to the salt belt, I couldnt imagine that poor 69 on salted roads.
Every since these car build shows have gotten popular, people are asking an arm and a dick for some piss poor shape pony/muscle cars around here. I got really lucky on my Mustang thanks to my dad and his friend who sold it him for a steal. I’m surprised how much the old TJ Jeeps are fetching in Southern California. Some asshole not too far from me wants 9k for an ‘00-‘02 high mile run down 4 banger POS! I quit looking for cars since I have my toy project, daily driver project and truck unless another sweet old diesel Benz falls on my lapI could buy a 65 impala sedan with a 283/2 speed that doesnt run and leaks everywhere for $4k, or get a 2 door hardtop with a 454 big block and 4 speed auto conversion for $3K, including new paint job down in texas.
My knowledge of cars is pretty limited, but DAMN those rancheros look nice! It's about time us auto kiwis got a thread of our own.
I'm making do with two old vehicles, a 16 year old econobox sentra and 30 year old truck. I love the truck despite many repairs resulting from it sitting for nearly a decade, the car is in need of some significant repairs and I'm debating fixing it or replacing it with a new Jetta GLI, with stick shift.
Look at this sexy beast:

On the other hand, I'd also like a nice classic car. I have a particular fondness for the torino based 1970-71 rancheros, especially with woody siding:

Especially if it had either a factory 427/4 speed or a 460/4-5 speed swap.
