A common theme among AF incel types is the insistence that it was common for young girls to marry older men in the past. This is rightfully discarded as just an excuse to justify their own pedophilia. But I was curious to see if there was any truth to this assertion, so I looked up the average age of first marriage in the US and guess what? The average age of first marriage for women in 1890 was actually higher than in 1970. And the average age gap between men and women has always been relatively small.

Lol op just fabricated a source. Wignat, the real truth is that young girls were being knocked up asap and used as a baby factory. Stats are used to LIE by big Wignat.

Even going back into the medieval era and classical antiquity it was still about the same. Those super-young marriages were always for strategic purposes among the very wealthy and nobility. During the Middle Ages, commoners and serfs just got married basically under common-law arrangements and they were usually around the same age. No real need to screw around with formalities because it's not like anybody is inheriting anything.

After all, attraction aside how the hell could the average pleb/serf afford a wife who was too young and unskilled to work a trade? The whole family had to work to support themselves unless you were very well off.
