Bacon on mosque offender dies in prison

A man who placed bacon on the doors of a Bristol mosque has died in prison while serving a 12-month sentence.

Kevin Crehan was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court in July for racially-aggravated public disorder.

Rashers of bacon were placed on the door handles of the Jamia mosque in Totterdown in January.

A prison service spokesperson confirmed the 35-year-old's death on Tuesday at HMP Bristol and said an independent investigation was under way.

No other details were given.

Three other people also admitted taking part in the incident in January where a member of staff was also racially abused.

Crehan, 34, of Knowle, was jailed for 12 months and Mark Bennett, 48, of Patchway, for nine months.

Alison Bennett, 46, the wife of Mark Bennett, was given a six-month sentence, suspended for two years.

Angelina Swales, 31, from Brislington, was handed a four-month sentence, suspended for two years.

The prison service has declined to give any further details of the circumstances of his death.

You know, Tommy Robinson was the founder of the English Defence League, who were pretty much a bunch of nutters. And this fellow he retweeted made Tommy Robinson sound less crazy...
 
Wait, hold the horses! Am I reading this correctly? Was this guy seriously sentenced for a whole goddamn year for basically littering? How can leaving food in front of a mosque get you a sentence comparable to what the gang members of that ridiculous sharia police have gotten, who had committed actual assaults?

From a quick bit of googling, it looks like the guy already had a bunch of prison sentences under his belt for soccer hooliganism, so anything more serious than jaywalking was probably going to get the police coming down on him like a ton of bricks. But yeah, the sentence seems a bit out of proportion, even when you consider that it wasn't just the bacon thing that got him sentenced (the guy and his friends apparently made violent threats to some of the mosque's members).

Birds of a feather flock together. The Soviets took over Axis territory in World War II the same way ISIS spread, marching from town to town, rounding residents up, raping women and children, forcing people to dig their own graves, and killing everybody. People commited mass suicide before the Russians came to avoid the shame.
