Bom from 2NE1 is genuinely terrifying with how much butchering she does to herself. She has a new face almost every time, and all of these pictures were within this same year.

"No filter" just means "default camera filter, no extra insta post processing". They're so used to it, I don't even think they know about the first layer of filtering.

I was into K-pop at the time and I really liked 2en1 because they didn’t have the same “idol image” as most groups of the time. They all looked…fairly normal, like real girls. But they all quickly got harassed and pressured into fitting the image, being called ugly by the South Korean media, and I think Bom was the most affected.

There are a lot of celebrities that need to learn to just let their managers and PR whatevers tell them what their fans are posting so that they know what is landing with their fans. There are people that will talk mad shit about anyone in the public just because whether it's objectively true or not and some celebrities just cannot parse this and grey rock it as they should. Better filtering for live chats needs to be done as well. I think it would help a lot with this sort of stuff. It's sad to see.

The other part is desperately trying to remain relevant generally. Like certain athletes, a lot of actors and musicians have short shelf-lives. Their primes are in their late teens and 20s and it's over when it's over. But it's the absolute fucking best time of their lives for a lot of them and they don't know what to do with themselves after the curtain closes. I think a lot don't cope well.

She was really cute before.

I was into kpop at the same time as you were. 2NE1 is one of those groups who got mismanaged and lots of shit which made me feel bad. I remember Bom getting lots of hate back then, and then her whole "scandal" with the medication was really fucked up with how Koreans got rabid at her again. South Korea really is a twisted place
 
Not surgical, but still horrifying:
I never knew the agonizing lengths black women go to for their hair. A channel called Actually Juliee came across my YouTube recommendations a few months back. She's a Kenyan(?) woman who makes videos clowning on insane "protective" hairstyles and the stylists responsible for them.

The last one is hard to judge purely because of how soon those pictures were taken. The thing with cosmetic tourism like this is you rarely see the end result. Because the patient is only in the country for a short period of time, the "after" photos aren't really after photos. Any surgery will take time to heal and you can't see the end result for weeks or even months post-op.

This is false adverstising done with makeup. The younger man is either getting paid by the surgeon or had free surgery and had to do this false ad in return.
