I don't know how many of you know or even care but Professional Baseball Spirits 2024 - 2025 (Pro Yakyu series, and the latest iteration in 5 years) is coming out next month and it'll finally be making its debut on PC. For what it's worth I bought a copy of 2019 and it's probably the best baseball game I've ever played if you don't count the management side of things (OOTP). If you can get past the language barrier it's an incredible game.

This dude on OS explains how to get it on PC if you're not in Japan. Might seem like more work than it's worth but it really is that good.

Haven't posted in this thread for a while, but man am I happy with my Guardians. After a dismal 2023, I wasn't expecting such a strong comeback with a first year manager. The AL Central for the most part has been a fun division this year (except for the White Sox, the poor bastards) and I think there's a good chance Cleveland can make a deep playoff run.
INDIANS INDIANS INDIANS GET IT RIGHT REEEEEEEEEEEEE

The White Sox have been very entertaining for all the wrong reasons this year. It's very rare to get a chance to see a team this historically awful.

True. Still, despite the historic nature, this is just bad for baseball as a sport. Of course there's always going to be bad teams in any sport, but the Sox were so promising during the winter meetings 4 years ago. The drop off is black hole levels of bad.

Who cares, just watch these fuckin shit goblins smack the ever loving piss out of the ball lol.

I'm just tired of seeing the same shit on every social media post about them. More people want to complain about the name than cheer for the team. And it's usually MAWGISTACS (Middle-Aged White Guys In Sunglasses Taking A Car Selfie) that are the main culprits.

It's amazing how much heat the Ricketts get as shit owners in this town when you compare their record to Reinsdorf over two teams and 40 years.

White Sox fans understand they've never signed a player to a $100 million contract.

Two: Southside Irish ain't exactly black or brown, my guy.

Southside Irish are like Tolkiens Elves. A relic from the old ages, destined to fade from this world as they cluster in their remaining domains.. just instead of Elrod its a guy called O'B who will get six old styles deep and tell you Byfuglien might have been a nigger but he could fight

To be fair it's the only name change where they remotely put a fucking ounce of thought into it.

Not naming any teams that went by "FOOT BALL TEAM" ever. God I hope they all choke to death.

Phillies are on a 2 streak, after a ton of losses we are .3xx after all star break... I'm having childhood PTSD. They are playing so badly my mom is losing her crush on Alec Bohm.. What can you say, he's dreamy. No homo.

I learned my lesson with the Phillies in 83. They were in first place most of the year (but fired the start of the season manager, Pat Coralles, because management thought they weren't playing well enough). They made it to the post season and defeated the dreaded Dodgers in the NLCS. They won the first game of the WS against the Orioles, then proceeded to get their shit pushed in losing 4 straight. Since then I never allow myself to get my hopes up for the Phillies.

Even though I support the Dodgers (solely because a few players I like are on the roster), I am rooting for the Phillies to win the World Series.

I understand full well about the pessimism that Philly fans tend to have, but the team is just so balanced with talent across the board. They’ll hit a few snags here and there because of how random Baseball can be, but I believe in these kids.

Come on Philadelphia, make this old man proud.

If Cleveland holds on to win the division, and manages to finish at or near the top of the American League, I think we can officially call them "the best worst team ever".

- Patchwork starting rotation that can't make it past the sixth inning
- A lineup with maybe three hitters that can be considered better than decent
- Three positions (SS, CF, RF) in constant flux
- The offense tends to disappear for weeks at a time
- At least the bullpen is mostly excellent

Without looking, I challenge anyone to name a position player that isn't Kwan, Ramirez, or Naylor.

Austin Hedges. Brayan Rocchio. Andres Gimenez. Jhonkensy Noel. Lane Thomas. David Fry. I can even name our top 5 prospects if you want me to.

I'm biased as a Guardians fan - and I agree with you on some of your points - but people are sleeping on this team's potential. This isn't the Cleveland team that just scraped by into the playoffs 2 years ago. The pieces are there, and when we put them together, we're a dangerous team. But, as you've pointed out, having key positions in constant flux, an offense that ebbs and flows, and a starting rotation that resembles a broken wheel aren't doing us any favors.

I firmly believe that this Cleveland team is going to win the ALC this year. Of course I'd love to see them win the WS, but we gotta temper expectations a bit. I can see this team making a good run deep into the ALDS. That is only provided if we can somehow get our shit together, but the issues we have are making it difficult. If Shane Bieber hadn't gotten injured, this team could easily have 10 or 12 more wins. If the offense was more consistent and stopped leaving so many men on base and actually finished ballgames, we'd easily be near 90 wins.

People are also ignoring that, defensively, this is a pretty decent team overall. A fielding percentage of .985 (league average, but a major improvement), defensive efficiency rate of .708 (league average .697), and we're 2nd in runs allowed per game at 3.93 (Seattle is in 1st with 3.78, league average of 4.43). Cleveland, in almost all categories, is at or slightly above league average. I don't know how anyone can look at this team and think they are the best "worst" team.

Has anyone caught the HBO Doc Charlie Hustle And The Matter Of Pete Rose? I was expecting to thoroughly despise it, figuring with 2024 sensibilities, they'd absolutely rake Pete over the coals. It turned out to be a surprisingly well done and fairly balanced documentary. I've seen some criticism over Pete not being hit with much in the way of hardball questions, but I thought they did a nice job of juxtaposing others comments and criticisms about his gambling etc. and Pete's own stubborn, hardheaded denial of his very clear issues. They also spent a good amount of time going over his career and stating exactly why he belongs in the Hall Of Fame.

There was only one thing that made me Mad At My TV while watching this. A few years back, Pete was going to be enshrined onto the Phillies wall of fame. They had been running promos for the event and Rose bobblehead they were going to sell. Then just before the event, accusations of Pete going after underage girls came out in the papers and Pete's event was promptly cancelled by the Phillies. Pete was asked by a local Philly reporter about the accusations, and in his denial, he called the reporter "babe"., and that also became a minor issue as well I had completely forgotten about this. As it turns out the HBO people were filming Pete at this time, and they show where the female reporter and I guess her "handlers" guilted Pete into apologizing over the matter. C'mon, what a thin skinned cunt. reporters have absolutely had been called worse, and have had their lives literally threatened over the years, but this too sensitive for the business c-note, had to humiliate Pete into apologizing? Get the fuck outta here.

The dog shit rays turn a 3-0 lead into a 7-3 loss as a result of a walk off grand slam by Shohei.

Notable as the homer was his 40th on the season, and earlier in the night he stole his 40th base.

Rays are visiting the Dodgers and the game is tied at 3-3 going into the bottom of the 9th.

Dodgers manage to get the bases loaded with 2 outs, which brings Shohei Ohtani to the plate. He came into the game on 39/39 and stole his 40th base early into it.

He blasted the very first pitch for a Grand Slam to win the game 7-3 and also to reach the 40/40 club. At 126 games, he's far and away the fastest to ever reach the mark.

Hell of a way to get the mark. With 33 games left, he has a solid shot at 45/45 and an outside shot at 50/50. Glad that we'll be able to witness however this amazing season ends.
