I do wonder how that works with team gear. Is there a secondary black market for Indians merch? You know they didn't sell out all the remaining inventory before the change. If I was an Indians fan I'd be stockpiling gear because once it's out it's gone forever.

There's plenty of people who have hung on to their Indians merch. At the couple of games I've gone to this year, it was about 70/30 Indians/Guardians.
 
The Padres just made a huge acquisition. They've traded for Josh Hader of the Brewers for four players.
1. closer (will likely become Milwaukee's setup man) Taylor Rogers

2. pitcher Dinelson Lamet

3. starting pitching prospect Robert Gasser (2nd round pick last year, considered the #7 prospect in the Padres system per MLB.com)

4.outfielder Esteury Ruiz (ranked as the Padres' #28 prospect and has made his MLB debut this year)

Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino are heading from Oakland to the Yankees for a reliever and a trio of prospects.
1. starter, Ken Waldichuk (24, was in the Future's Game last month, ranked as New York's #5 prospect on MLB.com)

2. outfield prospect, Luis Medina (19, ranked as New York's #10 prospect)

3. pitcher, J.P. Sears (26, good AAA numbers, made MLB debut this year, ranked as New York's #20 prospect)

4. infielder, Cooper Bowman (22, was a 4th round pick last summer, ranked as New York's #21 prospect)

Trey Mancini is heading from Baltimore to Houston and Jose Siri is heading from Houston to Tampa Bay in a three-way trade.
To Baltimore from Tampa Bay and Houston, respectively:
1. starting pitching prospect Seth Johnson (23, was 40th overall pick by Tampa in 2019, ranked as their #6 prospect)

Double posting, but I think that this news is warranted: Padres have completed trading for Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell.

Heading back to Washington if this goes through:
  • SP - Mackenzie Gore (23, was 3rd overall pick in 2017, considered top 10 prospect overall in 2020 and 2021)
  • SS - C.J. Abrams (21, was 6th overall pick in 2019, was considered a top 10 prospect overall before the season)
  • 1B - Luke Voit
  • OF - Robert Hassell III (20 years old, 8th overall pick in 2020, ranked as Padres' #1 prospect and #21 overall)
  • OF - James Woods (19 years old, 2nd round pick last year, Padres' #3 prospect and #88 overall)
  • SP - Jarlin Susana (18 years old, Padres' #14 prospect, ranked #8 for Washington)
Before Voit, it was Eric Hosmer who was originally supposed to also head to the Nats, but he exercised his right to veto his involvement in the trade. Hosmer ended up heading to Boston in a different trade (see last spoiler in above post.)

It seems the Jays were not able to match the Yankees, Padres, Astros, and Dodgers with their deadline moves today. Unfortunately, the farm system isn't quite enough for most teams to get any big pieces. I think management did the best they could to improve the team's depth. It seems though the Jays might not be favourites to win the World Series, but at least they'll likely be in the playoffs.

If Whit Merrifield decides not to get vaccinated though, that will be a really dumb move.

After all of that today, some really bad news has broken: Vin Scully has passed away at the age of 94. That's one of the biggest losses in recent memory. Really happy that he got to see his team win it all there a couple of years ago.

I think I can say the Blue Jays are in a good position for a playoff spot, but it's clear the Yankees and Astros are favourites to win the Pennant. They didn't have a good enough farm system to get the really big names at the deadline. I guess I just got to hope they can make the playoffs and pull off a few upsets. Past this year though, they still got a nice young core with mostly everyone under control or signed for next year.
 
Cleveland's starting pitching is suspect outside of Triston McKenzie and there's still a few holes in the lineup, but luckily they're staying competitive in the worst division in MLB. Realistically though, I feel like they're going to fall just short of the playoffs. Why they didn't offer up one of their several high-ranking infield prospects to make an impact at the trade deadline, I have no idea.

I wonder if Tatis Jr bought the roids from Robbie Cano while he was briefly a Padre (I missed reporting that he predictably got dumped by the Braves a few weeks ago). Haha they signed Tatis Jr for 14 years last year and already one steroid strike. Padres have to be rooting for him to do it again so they can get out of the contract. Preller fucked up with that extension, he's lucky they got Soto this year but we'll see how that goes.

My Angels started off fantastic for the first two months then promptly became the worst fucking team in the league. This generation of baseball seems to have only two constants: The Dodgers will always be fighting for the World Series and the Angels will be fighting for .500.

At least it seems like our starting rotation has finally started up- Ohtani and Detmers are looking like aces, Sandoval is a solid #2, and Jose Suarez is shaping up to be a great back end starter. Maybe next year... *sigh*

Allegedly Wander Franco and Harold Ramirez come back on August 20th but by then they might further behind.

You can't have Kluber giving up 7 across 5, especially with Baz now out for the rest of the season.

Am I retard for thinking Cash needs fired? It worked for the Jays. The other night putting in Poche in the ninth just to throw a homer to Fatboy Telez broke me. Fuck this sabermetric faggotry give me some old drunk with a chip on his shoulder.
