Hats off to the Phillies and Padres on advancing to the NLCS, and that Indians/Yankees game was a real treat.
Astros wins its series with the Mariners in a close (3-0) sweep series to advance to the ALCS.

The Dodgers losing was exactly what I wanted, I love an upset. It would be similarly cool if Cleveland, with the third lowest payroll in baseball, makes it to the ALCS and even the WS.

Add me to the list of people who like these upsets. Before the games started my prediction was going to be another World Series with Houston facing the Dodgers. Right now I'm predicting a Padres and Astros World Series, but I'm really rooting for it to be Cleveland representing the AL, that's if they can finish off the Yankees first. I'm sick of Houston.

I also wanted to add that Hall of Fame closer Bruce Sutter passed away on Thursday at the age of 69 after battling cancer. During his time between the Cubs, Cardinals and Braves, he was a 6-time All-Star, collected 300 saves (that number was third most all-time when he retired) and led the NL in that category five times (leading the entire league three of those times.) He won the Cy Young Award in 1979, in addition to two 3rd place finishes and a 5th place finish. He also won a World Series with St. Louis in 1982 where he recorded the save in Game 7 to beat Milwaukee.

Count me in on the Guardians bandwagon too. Everyone likes to shit on Cleveland because let's be honest, it's Cleveland. But they're so much fun to watch. My sister is also a White Sox season holder, so watching the Guardians win might give the White Sox the kick in the ass they need to actually do something.

On top of that, Terry Francona is a really good manager and he's done a great job of making the Yankees squirm over the years. One more World Series win, with this group, should get him in the Hall of Fame.

I listened to the Yankees/Guardians on the MLB app yesterdaywhile gaming. At one point Suzyn Waldman mentioned the NLCS teeing off later that night and had to point out this was the first time two clubs with less than 90 wins were in it.

You could practically taste the tears. Sorry your country club got invaded by some hot teams bitch, these vaunted 100 win teams should have played harder.

is it just me or are players that ask for time during an at bat by sticking their hand out at the ump mostly dickheads?

“Hold on a second blue I gotta tap both sides of the plate with my bat. Ok, ready now.”

It's a bush league move. Especially late in the wind up. Fuck a pitch clock batters should be only allowed one time call per appearance

Mets lose on the same timeline that the Jets and Giants are starting to slowly improve themselves as football teams. This is a bizarre timeline.
The Mets collapsing at the last minute is the normal timeline but the Jets winning, now that is off. Speaking of lolmets MLB.com was teasing a Yoenis Cespedes comeback here https://www.mlb.com/news/yoenis-cespedes-hits-home-run-in-winter-league I doubt it, but the Dominican Winter League looks like a fun game to go to.

I'm listening to John and Suzyn because the commercials on TBS are so bad I would rather hear 1-877-Kars4Kids on repeat

Yeah, that bad.

Stable Diffusion AI Art Bot does a decent John Sterling. It is high, it is far...

..but it is not really good at Suzyn. The black and white one looks a little like her but oddly wearing a uniform. Many tries came up with a generic 75 year old woman.

Framber Valdez was definitely putting something sticky on the ball last night and Maldonado has already admitted to using a banned bat.

Fuck MLB for letting the Astros get away with it....again.

That team that nobody likes just won.
Figured the Astros would win the series. Respect to the Phillies though for even getting to this point. Personally, I couldn't get into watching much of the playoffs at all for the first time that I can remember. I put Game 3 on in the background when Philly stomped Houston, but that's it. No one here, myself included, could even bother to make a post about Houston throwing the combined no-hitter to win Game 5. :story:

I'm not an Astros fan though appreciated Verlander since Detroit years. He's a HOF'er.

That said I don't give a fuck about the banned bat because it was for safety reasons splitting into pieces, not a Chris Sabo style corked bat or anything. But if you want to shit on the Astros and call them cheaters he did break a rule.

The first big offseason signing already happened, Edwin Diaz back with the Mets 5 years / $102 Million. I guess wait and see if it was worth it. Closers rarely have that staying power like Mariano Rivera. Probably he will have one or two more great years that the Mets can screw up in the last weeks of the season. Let's go lolmets!
