-Falls off a cliff metrics-wise
-Gets rocked in a fistfight by someone shorter than him
-Visibly woozy walking back to dugout
-Spends next day cleansing his twitter of anything alluding to sleep or knockouts
-Proven clubhouse cancer just like the rest of the team

A lolcow player for a lolcow team.
And what's up with Rick Hahn rambling about dudes sleeping?

Tim Anderson is the George Floyd of the MLB.

Bat flips are already obnoxious, but now they're doing it in the LLWS.

This shit needs to stop. You are not Bryce Harper, you cocky little fags.

Tampa Bay just can't seem to catch a break. Wander Franco is now sitting on the restricted list as the league investigates some very disgusting allegations regarding a sexual relationship with a 14 year old girl. Official news sources have been scant with the details, but some youtubers were apparently able to snag the accusatory social media posts before they were deleted.
If the video is to be believed, the mother of this girl essentially pimped out her own daughter (and lied about her age) in a ploy to extort Franco for gifts and money.

If the accusations are true, then this guy is obviously toast. If not, though, it will be interesting to see if he gets the same treatment as Trevor Bauer, who, despite being cleared of his domestic abuse charges, was still shown the door. Of course, Bauer was kind of a prick and publicly feuded with everyone, including the commissioner, so I'm sure they were happy to send him packing at the slightest show of impropriety.

I thought MLB did Bauer real dirty.

Of course, this is the same league and management that colluded to force Barry Bonds to retire 20 years ago when he was arguably still the best hitter in the game. All because he was real ornery and the comissioner at the time wanted to move passed the steroid era.

Felipe Vazquez, the former Pirates closer, is probably a better match for Franco.

Much less of a superstar (and an All-Star for Pittsburgh, so no one cared), but IIRC he was disappeared mid-season on similar minor sexual abuse charges and ultimately convicted.

At least with the most heinous crimes, the players disappear to jail instead of the more "morality clause" crimes with the Bauer types where MLB does their own shady in-camera investigation, later used to dole punishments without much actual due process or disclosure.

As an avid Rays fan I've been following this very closely. There are screenshots of the same "girl" driving around with a vodka bottle over her steering wheel and with a toddler that people are claiming is hers. So she either got knocked up at 11, not impossible in Latin America, or she's older than she says she is.

I've seen screenshots of friends of her on instagram saying she is 20. The whole thing is very sordid and shows a lack of judgement on Wander's part. He should have gotten an absolutely stacked big titted latin mommy like Randy or Yandy's wives.

Also @Mordecai "3 Finger" Brown Wander Franco is very much a superstar. He's on an insane long term deal and has been playing pro ball since he was 19. His rookie card speculation market shows there is a lotta hype behind him. I doubt they can just disappear him and no one notices.

Either way if he's guilty then bury him under the jail, if he's innocent I hope he sues every retard on twitter calling him a pedophile. I agree with both of you that it's unlikely he gets a fair shake from MLB if it comes down to them making a judgement call. Rob Manfred is a vindictive kike.

Re-reading what I wrote, I didn't choose my words and sequencing well.

I was trying to point out that Vazquez' situation better matched the alleged crime, not that he and Franco were of the same caliber.

Vazquez was more than just an average Joe, but was moreso an above average pitcher on a small-market team no one watches. Which made it easier to memory-hole him altogether.

MLB can be mercurial with their gusto in emphatically meting out punishment and suspensions, approaching differently based on the individual and the alleged crime.

Marcell Ozuna is back in the league a year or so after pretty serious domestic violence allegations IIRC. And no one likes him and he sucks as a ball player.

Roberto Osuna was arrested in Toronto for bloodying his baby mama during the spring half of the season. MLB let him back in for time served when the Hogtown cops dropped charges because their only witness fled back to Mexico. Osuna was back pitching for World Series-bound Houston after a trade by the deadline.

Ohtani has suffered a UCL tear. He won't pitch the rest of this season which had been MVP calibre. Also he could have been dealt at the deadline for a big return, and surely this will effect his market with offseason Tommy John surgery and recovery possible. Whichever team signs him in the offseason may not get to see him play til the following year..

Three nigger bitches were shot in the stands of tonight's White Sox game. What a disaster.

The Angels not selling at the deadline was such a retarded move. The fact they bought thinking they were contenders is even funnier.

And this is exhibit A for why these guys who can pitch and hit aren't a thing in the MLB. Yeah, Ohtani is a singular talent, but there is just too much risk in one of these guys blowing their arm out and potentially ruining the other thing they can do well... hitting.

On Sunday, the Jays finished a sweep of the Royals, sitting in a wild card spot after gaining on Seattle and Texas.

They would then host a struggling Rangers team at home for 4, who had recently been on a 6-16 slide.

Toronto got stomped in all 4 games, getting outscored something like a combined 40-9, effectively eliminating their playoff chances two weeks early.

The Jays now play out the rest of their schedule against the AL East - Yankees, Red Sox and Rays, with a losing season record against teams above .500.

If you thought Star Wars Night was cringe, look at what they did in the Minors:

Though I have to admit, this did result in a kinda-sorta cool logo for the Aberdeen Ironbirds, Baltimore's Single-A team:

What is with trying to cross promote geek shit and sports?
I suppose the people who witnessed stuff like NFL super pro fail are long gone from Marvel.

Minor league promotions and merch used to be kitschy and cringe, but at least it had some local car dealership/five&dime store hustle and charm.

Now that MLB effectively created another monopoly by buying the minor leagues outright after COVID had them on their knees, now it's just more soulless, mass-produced corporate crap.

I saw it mentioned elsewhere, but didn't really see anyone provide an answer.

If a common contention is that a major factor in the Rays' poor attendance is traffic problems/inaccessibility during rush hours due to bridge infrastructure to reach St. Pete - How does building a new stadium at the same site solve any of that?
That's just out of town stupid talking. There are three bridges from Tampa to St Pete. One is an eight lane with an additional eight lanes under construction. The other is an old two lane but not jammed up and the other is the Skyway bridge which is another eight lane.

Parking around the stadium could be an issue but honestly I live close enough that I bike or when I do drive I know of some local haunts I can stash my car.

Moving to Tampa would mean the same traffic issues or worse. Tampa has absolute gridlock where as St. Pete has rush hour.

The real reason attendance is low is because the franchise is just 25 years old. In an area FULL of East Coast/Midwest transplants. Fanbases aren't built overnight. The Bucs are 50 years old and until Brady showed up they struggled to sell tickets. There are more people alive in Tampa Bay that predate the Rays but that is changing.

I go to the games on Sunday where kids run the bases and the place is packed. Most of those kids will become Rays fans. The ones who come to see the Yankees/Red Sox garbed head to toe in merch for the visiting team by their parents like some fucking ISIS cult are a lost cause.

Also Floridians in general are not huge sports people outside of college. The Dolphins struggle to sell and the Marlins have a brand new stadium that's mostly empty. When you have beaches, boating, fishing, and the rest to compete with it's hard.

The key takeaway is that most if not all the people you hear shitting on the Trop or the Rays are talking out their ass.

Until the scumbag transplants give up their slavish devotion to their old teams or people in Tampa stop being fucking lazy and not crossing bridges things won't change but will over time.

The Rays should bring back their green uniforms from like 2003. Those were neat. Navy blue is too generic, and powder blue is for teams that can't stop reminiscing about being good in the 1980s.

I'm not sure if going to a Royals game will even be worth it if/when they tear down Kauffman. Downtown KC is already a demolition derby. Their proposed new "baseball district" is just a gentrification scheme that nobody wants (except the new halfwit owner, and suburban bougies who bought land in 'hood 15 years ago, before the K was renovated).

Meanwhile, some, uh, "urban community activists" were recently demanding that this new "baseball district" include affordable housing. Yeah, good luck with that.
