Where do I start with baseball? I know the basics and the game seems interesting but how could I catch-up with the prominent names, MVP's, teams and so on?
 
Imagine taking a flyer on Detroit to win it all back in August. You could even cash out now for a fortune, or wait for a bigger fortune. What a weird unorthodox style of play, great to watch.

Surprised me that Tito moved on from Cleveland, but I suspected it was coming at some point in the near future. Whatever health issues he had have obviously been taken care of and he's ready to get back to the dugout. Now that we seem to have our manager for the foreseeable future, it's better to move on. I'm sad, because the change of attitude that Francona brought to Cleveland baseball was so refreshing. I live closer to Cincinnati, so I'll definitely try getting to more games just to see him manage.

I'd like to know this, myself. Throughout 2023, baseball media fed us this narrative about how great their farm system was, the power of Henderson and Santander, the speed of Mullins, and how they only thing standing in the way of a deep playoff run was reliable starting pitching. After an embarrassing ALDS exit, they pick up Burns and have a hot start in April 2024. They lead the AL East for a bit but then start dropping a bunch of games and are eventually overtaken by the Yankees. Granted, a handful of those losses can be laid at the feet of their recently-released closer Craig Kimbrel, but he isn't the only source of Oriole suckage this season. Maybe a more astute birdwatcher can provide insights.
 
There truly is nothing quite like Playoff Baseball. No result is a given and nothing is guaranteed at all. All kinds of crazy shit appear to be happening.

Bottom of the 8th in the Dodgers - Padres game with LA leading 7-5. Rojas is at bat and Ohtani is on deck.

Edit: End of the 8th and the Dodgers are unable to add to the score. This Scott guy is fucking nasty and apparently Ohtani is 1-10 against him lifetime. To the 9th we go, with Treinen looking to get the Save.

Edit: Dodgers are finally able to win a grueling game. I worry about a deep series because Yamamoto was fucking terrible in his start. Do they really want him pitching in a possible Game 5 against this team that simply does not swing and miss ? Treinen with the most pitches in a game in 5 years...a little worried about the health of the Bullpen if they have to keep doing this shit.

Ohtani is simply out of this world though. While 2 strikeouts don't look good, to have the 3 run homer and being involved in the go-ahead score is mind-boggling. Can he keep doing it every game ? Of course not...but his consistency is truly incredible.

Dodgers down 4-1 going into the 7th inning and basically getting their shit pushed in, even though the scorecard doesn't read as badly.

Freeman has left the game and has been replaced by Kike Hernandez. Mookie continues to be an absolute fucking scrub in the playoffs. The other guys haven't been much to write home about. Ohtani is 0-3. Flaherty, while being ok has gotten into a screaming match with Machado and that seems to have fired up the Padres even more.

I don't think that Freeman will be much of a factor for the rest of the playoffs sadly, which is a massive loss for the Dodgers. Crazy as it sounds, maybe experiment with pushing Ohtani to 2nd or 3rd in the batting order ?

Edit: LA crowd is throwing shit at Juricson Profar (nigger). While I don't condone this kind of shit, Profar was taunting the crowd after robbing a Mookie home run in the 1st inning so fuck him. He was also jawing at and taunting Flaherty when Flaherty was going at it with Machado.

As I once heard someone say, "Tell that background nigga to shut the fuck up...niggas can't argue from the background".

Edit: Scott continues to dominate Ohtani and strikes him out on 3 pitches in the 8th. Ohtani is 0-4 in this game, which is not acceptable. You're not going to homer every game, but you have to at least get on base and make some shit happen. On that note, Mookie continues to flub as well, going 0-4 himself as I write this.

Edit: Tatis homers again off of some spic who I've never heard of, Henriquez , to make it 10-1. What the fuck is the use taking some no name piece of shit on the postseason roster if he's going to get shelled right away ? I thought that it was beneficial to have pitchers who haven't been seen much, but this is downright shameful.

Mookie's playoff struggles are no longer simply anecdotes and are now well and truly the book on him so to speak. The delta between his regular season stats and his recent playoff stats are eye-opening. Some faggot ass podcasters were talking about "putting some respect on his name", but shit that happened back in 2017 or even the meme tier "championship" in 2020 have absolutely no bearing on his current performance. Hyperbolic as it sounds, I actually wonder what kind of trade offers may be on the table for Betts in the offseason.

If you think about it, there is a reason why the Padres have been picked by the majority of analysts to win this series. They're the far better fielding team, the far superior pitching team, better at contact hitting and putting balls in play. Power hitting is the only area where the Dodgers have a clear edge, and on their day they have a great bullpen. The problem ? Both power hitting and bullpen performance are aspects that can swing wildly from day to day and it's not something that you can rely upon over a long enough time frame.

Another crazy idea I had was to try letting Freeman DH and to play Ohtani at 1st base. This way he doesn't have to throw guys out and strain his arm. This way they can at least get Freeman to keep hitting.

The only hope that the Dodgers have is to somehow split games in SD and then to bring it back to LA for the final game. What worries me is that they have retards like Walker Buehler and literal whos like Landon Knack going up against the Padres elite starting pitchers...I mean, Dekopin might unironically be a better option than those worthless fucks.

In any event, this is simply the manifestation of a Dodgers' fan's worst fears. There's a reason why having good starting pitchers and just being able to consistently put the ball in play has been a hallmark of the truly great teams of yesteryear.

As long as nigger Roberts is in charge, this team won’t do jack shit. Can’t field, can’t pitch and can’t hit much either.
