Find it in your heart to forgive this old man for using hackneyed expressions.
Nothing against you, this rant was brewing seeing the more than daily headlines. The sports media did this to us, even on the official MLB.com 69 results.

I think that it's time that we stopped paying attention to shit like the CPI for inflation metrics and simply look at the dollar amounts being thrown about at athletes in the sports world.

I say this because we are officially in retard territory when it comes to the Soto contract situation. It's being reported that the Yanks, Mets, Red Sox and Blue Jays have all offered around 710 to 730 million over 15 years. The Dodgers are the only team that are somewhere in the 600 million range.

A contract north of 700 million over 15 years will never, ever pay itself back. The only way that you would recoup that investment is if the athlete in question is able to move the needle well beyond the sport of Baseball. Soto is a great hitter and that's all he'll ever be. No one gives a fuck about some Dominican nigger because he's just another spic who can play Baseball pretty well.

It's too many years and way too much money, as I've already outlined in previous posts. I'm surprised that the Red Sox are still in the running given these ludicrous figures that are being thrown about.

At this point, I'm just happy that teams I detest such as the Yankees are potentially going to blow their entire payroll on this 1 dimensional nigger. In fact, I hope that they get him because I don't really care either way about the Mets and am equally ambivalent about the Red Sox (may actually like them a little bit given how much I dislike the Yanks).

765 million dollars over 15 years, Juan Soto to the New York Mets.

Not just that. There is no deferred money and he has escalators that could push it beyond 800 million.

I’m just glad that it wasn’t my team that has to pick up the tab on this obviously bloated contract.

Have fun Mets fans !

I knew he would be a Met, Yankee's fans gonna be pissed.

Holy shit, the only thing that even comes CLOSE to justifying that much money is that he is younger than a lot of star players are when they get their big free agent contract. Which would make it even more hilarious if it turns out it's all been just the classic Dominican Con and he is much older than he says he is. While unlikely I'm sure as he has obviously had much more scrutiny and investigation than the average minor league Dominican you pick up off the street, it would still be funny if he somehow managed to dupe everyone for so long.

I mean, he does look pretty old

Just more "lol Mets" bullshit. That contract, I believe, will prove to be a noose around that organization's neck in pretty short order.

Edit: spelling, lol

Dave Parker and Dick Allen were selected to the HOF by the Classic Baseball Era committee.

Also I didn't see here anyone talk about Severino going to the A's. Suprisingly the A's gave out what I think is their second biggest contract ever. Possibly ushering in a new era where they aren't cheapskates as they move towards vegas? I think they are playing at a minor league field for a few years that will be interesting, maybe not good but interesting.

Soto- this photoshop from NYPost is pretty funny seeing as the Mets haven't even re-signed Iglesias the OMG guy.

Are they planning on taking his OMG shit forever and letting him walk? It's from his song. He had a career year last year but also fuck Iglesias he was pushing BLM on MLB hard in 2020.

Juan Soto going from the Yankees to the Mets would be like if Eli Manning went from the Giants to the Jets during his prime. It doesn’t mean that the Mets automatically go the World Series, but it’s a strong chance that they could be very accessible when it’s clinching time.

The owner of the Mets is worth over $20 billion. He once paid a record $1.5 billion fine for insider trading. None of the money that goes into that team comes from ticket sales or television revenue. The owner is just going to make a few insider trading deals to pay for this contract. You would need $10 from every ticket sold during a sellout game to pay for Soto's average game fee across his contract. The Mets cannot afford this contract without outside money.

A couple of pretty big names got traded last Friday. Kyle Tucker was traded by Houston to the Cubs for Isaac Parades, a depth reliever, and the Cubs' first round draft pick from this past summer. Later that day the Brewers sent their closer Devin Williams to the Yankees for Nestor Cortes and a prospect.
