The nice thing about the dodgers is that management isn't fucking retarded:
The Dodgers are the rare combination of a team willing to spend money and knows what it's doing. Not every signing or trade they make works out, but they're still taking chances and trying to improve. MLB would be much better off with more teams like them and fewer like the cheap ass owners who barely even try to put competitive teams out on the field or when they do blow the whole thing up after a couple of years because they won't want to pay anybody.

The Royals re-signed Salvador Perez through 2027. Was expecting him to announce his retirement.
I was surprised too. Club House guy I would expect, plus he can DH and 1st base, but I would be surprised if he catches much. His knees are probably going to explode.

Good move. Keeps the club house vibes and you get a good veteran presence in the dugout. The deal is also pretty team friendly with the deferral structure.
He's Yadi Molina for those of us on other other end of the I-70 rivalry. If he doesn't make it to Cooperstown, then they should at least retire #13 when Salvy does.

Starting pitcher Luis Ortiz as well as closer Emmanuel Clase, both of the Cleveland Guardians, have been indicted on sports betting charges; Ortiz is already in police custody and was arrested earlier today.

The main role they played from what I can tell is that would intentionally throw balls so that people involved with the betting ring could bet on a pitch by pitch basis. Between betting on the two of them, bettors won over $450,000 (mostly on Clase's pitches.)

Yadi is a first ballot HOFer catcher if I ever saw one. 41.6 WAR, 2224 games, 8554 PAs, 2168 hits, .277 average, .327 on base, .399 slug, .726 OPS. And that doesn't count 9 Gold Gloves, 10 All Stars, 2 rings, and 1 Silver Slugger. However, Yadi was primarily a defensive beast, whereas Salvy is more offensively gifted. I think Salvy gets into the HOF too, but it'll be a few ballots before he gets his roses.

Parts of this are actually hilarious, especially with Pages, I'll post what I found on reddit.

So they were betting on first pitches, hence we have this:

However, in one game, they were betting on the first pitch, but dumbass Andy Pages swung at it

So, what do you do when your gambling fraud gets ruined for a day and you lose 4000 dollars? You send meme gifs of course.

MLB announced they've worked with "MLB Authorized Gaming Operators" that there are changes to betting on individual pitches. $200 limit per and they can't be used for parlays.
Betting on individual pitches is already bad enough and a sign you have a serious problem. They should just get rid of those altogether, but I get why the gambling companies wouldn't want that so this seems like a very reasonable compromise.

Total Sportsbook Death I hate them so goddamn much.

How fucking stupid do you have to be to fix games for thousands of dollars when you have contracts worth tens and hundreds of millions of dollars? Fucking WHY?

Oh

Absolutely ridiculous that Judge won MVP over Cal Raleigh.
Agreed. Judge had the better stats, but Raleigh was much more valuable to the Mariners. What Raleigh did defensively as a catcher all year long should have been enough to give him the edge. I'm not surprised Judge won, though, he's the bigger name in a bigger market and there are voters who still take that into consideration.
