So why was the US starting some rookie for the Mets and not like Garrett Crochet or Gerrit Cole again? Oh right, because Scott Boras hates fun and is an insane control freak and the one who actually runs baseball. Either way, GG Venezuela.
Cole just pitched his first single inning today since Tommy John surgery.

It's that time again spring training almost done, competitions for that last bullpen or bench spot. Veterans like Craig Kimbrel will soon be finding out if they have one last shot or it's so over.

The results speak for the roster choice, but Nolan Maclean was the top pitching prospect and killer in his first few major league starts last year. He's at or near the top of the Mets rotation. I think it was a bigger mistake not starting Cal Raliegh or at least pinch hitting the guy who hit 60 HR last year. Will Smith is good but that was an all time season big dumper had.

I hope Sasaki does okay this seasons because man he's playing like shit.

A lot of people say you can tell how the season's going to go by the first hitter game of the year...

The Brewers struck out 20 White Sox hitters en route to beating them 14-2. Make of that what you will, on both sides.

Dodgers won in convincing fashion
Good win on opening day. The offense only having 1 hit through 4 innings was a little concerning, but once they finally got something going the runs poured in. 6 innings of 2 run ball from Yamamoto, good stuff even with the Dbacks running up his pitch count. Bullpen took care of business without any issue. Can't ask for much better than that.

And now Nico. So stoked, I thought for sure that wasn’t going to happen. Though middle infielders over 30 make me nervous. On PCA, if he can get his OBP up and stay consistent, he will be a perennial MVP candidate maybe even a HOFer but that’s a little hasty. Really excited for his future and really glad we signed him.
