I think part of what makes Baseball so great is due to the game itself the MLB has a harder time influencing it. There are ways of course, like juicing the balls, but it’s not like NFL or FIFA where refs have a much easier time influencing the outcome of a game.

ABS has nerfed them even harder. Once they are completely removed by technology, the game will be Absolutely Pure

ABS has been great. I like how quick the review is, and obviously getting the call right is the most important thing. We'll probably get to a point where umps no longer call balls and strikes (once real-time ABS is perfected), but are there to call safe or out, fair or foul, check the check swings and look for balks.

As I am getting older I appreciate much more the intellectual skill level that is required for baseball. Just them knowing which base they have to throw the ball to in less than a second. Things like that.

You don't really understood the unique talents that are required until you really think about it.

I cant cheer for the Indians after those cowards changed their names.

I want the Rays to actually win a World Series for once.

It's amazing what they do year in and year out with a shoestring budget and they deserve to finally see the peak. Same with the Brewers as well. A Brewers Rays series would be great.

Losing a CS game off of only unearned runs is rough. The error coming from your star player is double rough. Good thing they won yesterday and "won" home field advantage.

There will still need to be an ump behind the plate to call things like catcher’s interference, balks, and hitting the batter, so should not hurt anyone’s job.

It's also forced a few shitty umps into early retirement out of shame, which is also nice.
Angel Hernandez would have seethed himself into an early grave if players were able to challenge him.

And Bucknor is apparently retiring after this season, so if nothing else the ABS is filtering the REALLY shit Umps.

You do know that they yell at each other out there, right?

Edit to avoid double posting:
Having the ability for players to challenge calls on the fly has forced umpires to up their game I feel.
According to the data, when the umps were informed that ABS was inevitable, they upped their game immediately. The year before it was implemented, their ball-strike calls became far more precise than the year before. I can hunt down the article for you if you want, but it seemed fairly conclusive to me. I'm not sure whether to chalk it up to them being scared straight or just preparing for the inevitable so they wouldn't be shown up so badly, but it was real and showed up in the numbers.

Aside: I found it hilarious that in ST, the vets were grilling the minor leaguers about ABS, since the kids knew how it worked and the vets didn't. Imagine having Aaron Judge sit you down and ask you to tell him how to challenge that bullshit call.

Roberts has fallen back to his old overmanaging habits and it’s not doing any favors.
I'd call it undermanaging tbh, not having someone up and warm at the beginning of the inning is such a regular season thing to do, not an extremely close and important NLCS game thing to do. I thought he should have pulled Snell the minute he gave a base runner but I can see the argument against it and "hindsight is 20/20" but leaving him in after the 1st homer should have been the most obvious thing in foresight and instead Roberts decided to sit his lazy ass down and do nothing.
