BattleBots - IT'S ROBOT FIGHTING TIME (probably spoilers)

What the absolute fuck was that Valkyrie win, I haven't even finished the episode I'm so bewildered.

EDIT: Oh, there is an appeals process and the insanely obvious victor got it in the end cause holy fuck what is wrong with those two judges? Control may of been a push, but Malice knocked a big chuck of Valks mass off for damage and it's weapon stopping spinning isn't equal, and most to all of Valks hits were from Malice's aggression.

Fon seems like he's suffering from Yellow Fever giving Valk 2 to 1 on Malice for Aggression and Control, Lisa who I know last season was criticized for a lot of bad scoring at least corrected hers.

Lisa was actually criticized a lot two seasons ago, last year she was almost always in the majority. Anyways, the judges erred because they didn't know Malice still had weapon functionality. Without that you had two bots who were acting equally aggressive and well controlled before the big hit, followed by one that lost weapon but could still move and one that had weapon but no mobility. It was only after Valk got flipped right side up that it got held up by the bolt that used to hold its spinner and could no longer move. I could see, in that case, judges saying that Valkyrie had better control for longer and was more aggressive, since it was still actively moving towards its opponent post-hit. Split damage 3-2 or even give them they win on damage (since both had "lost weapon" but only Malice lost translational mobility) and there you go, Valkyrie wins. Of course, thats not what actually happened, Malice didn't lose their weapon, they turned it off intentionally so they wouldn't blow it out by mistake, ergo they ended the fight with a much more functional robot than Valk and should have got the 4-1 damage scores that I assume they did.

For S08E09:
Gruff vs Witch Doctor
Damn, Gruff got demolished really quickly. Not alot of bots can tear into that thick armor.
Malice vs Valkyrie
Not sure on this one. Thought it would go to Valkyrie on damage but Malice knocked out their blade and won a successful appeal so. Meh.
Madcatter vs Big Dill
Madcatter is on fire this season. Love it.
Ribbot vs Jackpot
Jackpot should have circled around a bit more and hit ribbot from the sides. But it also was having drive issues.
Sawblaze vs Skorpios
Cutting that blade was symbolic. A real good hit.
Ripperoni vs Hijinks
The chefs get fed a course on their own.
End Game vs Hypershock
For all the forks they brought, Hypershock gets stuck on it's side.

the appeal process couldn't be any gayer.
it's just reviewing footage. it's just checking footage to make sure they saw everything. it's a competition. they should already be doing that.

other problems regard the dress code in the pits and signs, as well as the trannies that began to show up in teams like sporkinok, hyjinx.. possibly horizon?
none of the bot builders want to talk about the tranny gay shit because they know it would socially murder them to say left or right.

furrybots.png
people that look like furries getting on air even after the public has been told that furries are a sex cult.

trannybots.png
they like letting trannies into the competition while everyone brings their kids to these events at the same time.
they have pee pee frog as signs on the rise because of ribbot, and that's a direct link to furry fetish porn comic, and it's being dismissed as cute because everyone is a retard.

slutblizzard.png
lisa winters and her pretend-animal-abuse commercial with mini bots,
as if they can't be any more insensitive they used paid tv to do a spoof of abused animals rather than promoting actual abuse awareness for any donations.

greg munson and trey rodski made no executive decisions against the idea, these people think making fun of abused animal services is hilarious and worth money.
this collage of pictures resembles a convention for fucks sake.
sorry for the phone pictures of my screen

Damn that's a lot of text
We know it's all stupid. Here's the thing though - they can do all the pozzing/SJW shit they like but ultimately they aren't the stars of the show - the robots are. And nothing is more entertaining than seeing robots built for the purpose of hamfisting "TRANZ RITEZ!!1!!1!" getting torn to shreds. This is the one sport where being into politics means absolutely jack shit because what they make will be destroyed.

Also your animal abuse ad spoof point is pretty dumb. The ad could've been done better but holy shit you sound just like a sensitive troon when you complain about it.

Also, on the judging decision review point... that is not only how robot fighting has been judged for all of the sport's existence, its also how almost all human sports are judged. Diving? The judges watch the dives and give scores in real time. Gymnastics? Same thing. Boxing? Same way. The show isn't live but it is time limited and, when a fight ends, they immediately start prepping for the next one to begin, they immediately announce the winner and get the teams their interviews so they can then fuck off and have the next two teams do their entrances.

Finally got around to last week's episode and honestly a lot of those fights kinda sucked. The biggest moment was probably the fact Shatter lost to fucking Horizon not so much because of what Horizon did but because Shatter has been driven so terribly this season. How many other robots ended up putting themselves onto the upper deck with no help from the opponent? Hard to believe this robot is a former top 8. And I think the team knows it which is why they made a big show about the pointless appeal, as they're not making it to the tourney.

Also, the Ominous/Shreddit Bro fight was sad. The former has potential, they just need to get the weapon motor able to survive a weapon-on-weapon hit. But Shreddit Bro's only saving grace is that it isn't completely falling apart every match like its predacessor.

Oh, and the guy whining about Monsoon ripping up Shrederator...dude, this is BATTLEBOTS. Robots have been ripped in half, exploded, and literally fused together like Hypershock vs. Sawblaze. This isn't like that one fight where Lockjaw had the accidental hit after the final bell.

Yup. It's really kind of telling that literally the single biggest impact that Sporkonok or whatever the stupid trans robot from last season did, was its team had a truck that they loaned to Witch Doctor's team so they could get repair materials in. The actual robot was a total joke and I'm not sad to see it didn't make the cut this year.

For S08E10
Riptide vs Captain Shrederator
Poor cap, going straight into the drum then getting shredded by it. Gonna need extensive repairs after that.
Mammoth vs Deathroll
Aussie fresh water croc eats wheels off of a swingset.
Banshee vs Emulsifer
This had a good few hits but kinda ehh to be honest.
Copperhead vs Kraken
Copperhead always puts on a show, that drum spinner is very powerful.
Horizon vs Shatter
The way Horizon is built, with it's spinner length wise, was enough to act as a buffer for Shatter's hammer. Can see why they won, even if I don't like it.
Omnious vs Shreddit Bro
One good hit, then a 3 minute push match. To the point of where they cut away to advertise the next fight.
Whiplash vs Monsoon
A full 3 minute main title fight, Whiplash did very good here.

other competitions make a little more sense to have real-time judging. so much happens in battlebots within 3 minutes, you can miss a lot. it really wouldn't take much extra effort to let them watch it once more, especially since they miss basic things constantly. malice was yelling "my weapon is working!!" and they were like "oops i didn't see that, i was too busy drawing my name with fancy letters".

the judges feel complacent, they should get some new people at least

There are like six cameras active recording the fights and the show edits to give you the best view. Even rewatching the fight it will be hard to catch what is going on. (And the real test is what is going on inside the bots, damage that the teams don't even know about until hours later during rebuild.)

Anyways, last season they were so overbooked that they couldn't even schedule all of the fights needed, so you can bet they aren't going to be doing any delaying like that unless a team challenges.

Yeah, I recall only learning much later after Bite Force stopped appearing on the show that the robot suffered a lot of internal structual stress from the fights. I actually remember growing bored with the robot because every fight it was in, the robot never visually seemed to take damage and nothing could seem to survive long enough against the second incarnation to get meaningful damage (except Chomp V2 which hilariously won with the lucky hit on the weapon belt but they didn't even televise the fight because it was so boring after that).

Suffice to say, the fact the show makes a point of barely recognizing a two-time champion anymore because of what happened with its owner regarding the contract payments or whatever is pretty funny. Not that I think Bite Force could even go for a third nut, since the field has become so much stronger.

Bite Force has 3 nuts, seasons 1, 3 and 4 of the reboot.

Just dug up their respective fight histories and you're right. For some reason I thought Tombstone took the season 3 nut but it lost to Bombshell, and then the finals was Bite Force vs. Minotaur in a fight I do not even remember. Hell, I thought S3's final was Witch Doctor vs Tombstone.

I need to brush up on who the hell actually fought who lol.

i always think it's funny when they completely ignore bite force like he never happened, they're always like "tombstone!!!" instead lol

also i still think they should try some new judges, the current ones make me annoyed, mostly derek and lisa

The issue with Riptide vs Captain Shrederator was Riptide hit Shrederator several times after the bot was out. They had won but did more(and catastrophic damage, the team estimates $10k) in what is considered extremely poor sportsmanship.

Then I suspect maybe a rule change next season in response to this, maybe something like 'if the robot does not have a self-right mechanism and it flips over, the opponent must immediately stop."

Reading about it, the referees gave them a warning, if the behavior continues there is a good chance they won't be invited back.
