Jamie was involved too and seemed annoyed as hell when they brought Adam on as a guest. I thought he was just hamming it up, but after hearing that outside Mythbusters, he and Adam can't stand each other, I think his annoyance was legit.
I do recall reading in multiple interviews that Adam and Jamie were kind of "friends of circumstance" in a sense, and that Mythbusters going on for a dozen seasons was unexpected and their relationship was purely one that was "for the cameras". They're like the opposite of Penn & Teller when it comes to how they interact off screen.

I can understand Jamie getting upset about not getting invited. Jamie was actually the "brains" of their robot team I believe, he's the one who built Blendo and I went down a rabbit hole a while back because Blendo was like this gasoline-powered robot that had this crazy hydraulic drift system that it used for drive where the wheels were connected to some bizarre gearbox under the shell and could selectively be powered by the engine that was also spinning the weapon. It was something insane like that.

Adam was just a special effects guy. Not to discredit him or anything, but out of the two of them Jamie was the one who'd built the soda machine with the CO2 can launcher, and the rollerblades that had the custom gearboxes driving them. Adam was also the more personable of the two as well. I'm pretty sure Jamie's Twitter username was unironically something dumb like "JamieDoesntTweet" and sure enough he never posted to it.

Yep. He was very blunt about it when asked in interviews, basically saying Adam couldn't do anything without goofing off and was constantly saying Jamie was "Too serious" about everything.

They also mentioned that Grant one of the few people who could deal equally well with both Adam and Jamie, doing a lot of work to help them get along.

MystrSyko: Trooned out / vanished.
Votesaxon07: Serving a life sentence for murder.
Barangoat: Threw in the towel.

Draco: Still somehow apparently working on BattleBots-related shit after 11 god damn years.

:story:
I'm not surprised by people trooning out or just quitting, but I didn't have murder on the bingo card.

The dude played a pre-recorded livestream to pretend he was streaming all night as an alibi. Brilliant.

I've been rewatching Drop Zone this week, actually. I forgot that he was also fat. Its a bit sad to sit there and remember that I can't like him because he had a non-government approved abortion.

Lol, who let Jim Sterling on Battlebots.
I knew you were joking but I still phonefagged at work just now to check the new episode. Holy shit, lmao.

Gross. And apparently the streetshitter robot won its fight too so I think it's gone 3-0. BattleBots has fallen. SUPERPOWER BY 2020!!

Turns out you can put lipstick on a pig!

As for the fights themselves, bots hit so hard now that huge hits have basically become boring and mundane. Whats really great is when a bot can tank one of those hits and keep on going, as Madcatter did a few weeks ago. They're the team I'm rooting for right now, though Manta and Minotaur are probably the favorites.

I've never really thought of it that way but yeah that's about where I am too I think. I've kinda loosely followed this Pro League thing, sometimes forgetting there's been a new episode because Thursday is a weird day of the week to drop new things, and in the middle of the work day too?

But yeah, it's incredible to think about how technology has advanced to the point where everything is just armored like a tank. I remember 20 years ago when it was a big deal that Biohazard was armored with titanium and it cost a fortune to do that, and now titanium armor fucking sucks or something. I do miss those early days though where robots were built from old fatty scooters and scrap parts and things actually got broken. When a team brought one single robot to the show and they just hammered out the dents until they lost or wound up winning the whole damn show. Bringing multiple copies of your robot seems like cheating in a way.

Hard to put into words, like I said. The show is "better" now, but it's also not?
