That whole situation was Peak CGL writing for me. The Ghost Bears, the Clan that did the hardest Crusader-Warden turn post-Tukayyid (tied with the Sharks), after a hundred and fifty fuckin' years of integrating and interacting with their Spheroid subjects, fall into a civil war because the Wolves took Terra and whistled for them to join up. That's so retarded it hurts. The Bears (and later the Dominion) would have had that Crusader mentality stamped clean off their sibkos and education system decades ago. They should have laughed in Alaric's face and told him to shove his Star-League-at-home up his ass.

There also seems to be a weird love affair with new "Clan-IS" hybrid nations. Still wondering how the Raven Alliance makes any sense. The Ravens help ONE planet and they decide to hand the reins over to them and change their name? I mean, the Taurians have the "hippity hoppity get off my property" reputation, but the Outworlds Alliance had it even more, going so far as to shoot any dropships before they had a chance to breach the upper atmosphere.

Stranger still is how, despite places like the Raven Alliance and Scorpion Empire having fans despite there being so little about them, those fans seem to hype them up as flawless societies that are the perfect unions.

I wish the writers were brave enough to write places like those descending into Space Afghanistans, but with the current crop, I sincerely doubt that.

The Ravens had some facilities on more planets. Though the most obvioius would be Ramora, Dante and quatre Belle. Plus the Alliance, while rather "Leave me alone" are also not very militaristic (unlike the Taurians). And they dealt with the Ravens in good faith (plus, per the lore, barely a third of the Alliance population even voted on the union of the Clan and Alliance). The only "hybrid nation" which currently goes down is the Wolf Empire. While it's fun to see the Dragoons rip the Empire to shreds said nation is young. Some on the Battletech forum said that while the Wolves took Terra in the end they will be assimilated into Terra or rather the Terran culture. After all, try to hold a planet with 11-12 billion people with what, 100k troops?

With the excuse that "No FWL company expressed interest" in continuing it so it "went to the Cappies," which is the dumbest shit ever, but it's CGL, half the recognition guide entries read like they were written by an ESL who's also a shit writer. Don't get me started on how much the writing tool "civil war" was used in the only few decade spanning "dark Age" And we still have one looming in the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth. Heck the Confederation might also break due to sibling rivalry though in this case a war between the Confederation and the Magistracy / Anduzrien (are these people on repeat or something?). All of this just so the Wolves have an easier time. I for one keep my fingers crossed that at least the Free Worlds League manages to absorb the Wolf empire without doing some League stuff
