Was looking into the more recent update of Roguetech and what people say about it, holy shit it's bad.
>Battle Armor is garbage, except for when the AI uses it
>Missiles got nerfed so hard you are actively gimping yourself for using them, invalidating a whole category of weapons like they did artillery
>MG got nerfed similarly, now if you run it you're just making it easy for the enemy to crit you (I believe MGs can't crit anymore either)
>Accuracy nerfed across the board, good luck hitting anything, oh and the enemy is unaffected and can even get random headshots and one-tap you, killing the pilot. Imagine running your best units and pilots only for them to instantly die because from a headshot (the enemy was aiming at your legs)
>Ballistics being an money sink due to the lack of good damage with high ammo costs (rotary weapons especially, damage was halved with no other changes to balance)
>Night missions are borderline impossible since you practically have to be in melee range to even get a chance to hit (you're firing blind otherwise)
>Super Heavies are even harder to fight due to these changes being made seemingly just to make them harder to fight, good luck fighting one when damage, accuracy, and anything else that counters it are nerfed so hard they struggle against even the easier enemies

Everything is so hard to use now that the only viable playstyle is running energy boats, trannies really can't do anything right can they? Considering most of the people I've seen have all sorts of red flags (pronouns in bio, highly customized plebbit avatars, "we're not going to interact anywhere that isn't our hugbox where we can ban you for being in a server we don't like" jannies, etc.) and taking into mind the larger BT community, I can see why these changes aren't universally reviled. People say it's tabletop purism, these people never touched the tabletop (if they did they sucked ass) because I never had these issues to these extent.

Isn't the RAC one of the most horrific ballistic weapons on TT since you can spam up to six shots per round if you've got the heat (RAC/5 only does one heat per shot so lol), ammo, and jam rolls for it?

RACs can be horrifying, but they still have a cluster chance to hit (which is still generous) and can jam (but can be unjammed in base rules).

The only thing from the mod that seems fitting for tabletop is Missiles (at least LRMs) kind of sucking. It's not that they are bad in tabletop it's just they have min range, they hit from cluster tables, and BV 2.0 sees they have good range and assigns them higher BV. They aren't shit terrible, but they aren't really worth bringing a lance of missile boats to a skirmish game. Now add semi-guided, tag, and hills to hide behind, missile boats truly become scary.

Edit 2 : SRMs are always fine and can have inferno to just cook your oppnent. Yeah they also have a cluster roll but always do 2 damage or 2 heat per missile so they are not bad and have their roll as a "Don't get close to me asshole" weapon system.

Why does every BT mod try to cram so much bullshit into it?

Next time you play tabletop see how nasty a LRM carrier with hotloaded FTLs can be.

Yeah, not that big into the tabletop at all so I was mostly just guessing there based on raw stats and what I've heard around, but IIRC the two Inner Sphere RACs largely superseded the IS UAC's since they A. could do more than two shots and B. could be unjammed in combat unlike UAC's which were jammed until a tech could look at them.

Oh yeah, whenever I played MW5 Mercs I made sure to pack short range missiles in some form (SRM, MML, or ATM) since they were one of the nastiest things you could get for their weight and space, and there's no shortage of close quarters brawling in that game. Fucking love the MML-9 since its got almost as many LRMs as the LRM-10 but a whopping nine SRM's, plus built-in Artemis IV.

I'll have to find people who aren't COWARDS and will run experimental. (Really just go "Hey I want to run some experimental stuff who's up?" LOL).

Yeah. UACs really just give a little extra range I think? RAC/5 has the potential for 30 damage with decent range and a pretty low jam chance. Not amazing, but still fun.

ATM HE's are love. There's a Rifleman IIC with 2 Clan LPLs and 2 ATM 9's.

This is another reminder I should get MW5 and the expansions. It's just whenever it's on sale I'm really busy or really broke lol.

FTLs just give them that extra kick, hotloading is nasty enough on it's own.

A bit more range, a second shot, and a reduced minimum range. One more ton and one more crit, but considering that a single UAC/5 can with a little luck do the job of two AC/5 its a solid trade, especially since you've got Endo and FF coming into play around that time and most mechs have more crit space than tonnage to play around with.

Been out of the loop on BT for a good chunk of a while now, any new cool announcements coming out?

Kurita boxes are finally coming out. Tower boxes are coming out (This is valuable to me because I am a scenario autist). Some other boxes I forgot about. I think Aces (which is the card game one IIRC) will have a bunch of dice but IDK if that's a good deal or not lol. Uh, some dice that will be overpriced instead of just having lots of faction dice people actually want.

IDK about MW5 stuff. People who have bought it can explain more.

Clans flopped so they're going to be reusing from it to milk at least one more DLC from MW5 before they're inevitably shut down, bought out, and/or not have their license renewed. And as a bonus, MWO is doing a tournament or something as well as trying out a new 8v8. I'm digging the 8v8 since my teams seems more focused since they have less people to rely on for their shortcoming, not to mention much faster matches (both finding and completing them) which is great as the playerbase is tiny. Broke my winstreak record today because of it.

They're working on a modern remake of TRO:3025 with new art and updated lore, which I haven't noticed anyone else bring up here.
Probably still trying to figure out how to go on with the Ilclan period. Unless we get some handwavium and - boom - it's 3250 and Kerensky's voice finally reaches the Is right in front of an advancing Homeworld Clan horde

Btw it's kinda funny but the Federated suns are very - how to put it - hardcore when dealing with certain crimes (from the FS hand book)

I mean jesus. I checked the other handbooks and there was no mention of any of this

I think some or all of these might be based on real punishments Britain had in the 20th century. I know castration for sex offenses was a real sentence you could get in Britain back then. [And the UK has even discussed the idea of bringing it back earlier this year.]

House Davion is supposed to be more like France then the UK (oer perhaps a mixture of both?) It's still kinda funny when the hardcore dictatorships go easier on some crimes. Though if I remember correctly in the Confederation and combine those crimes are according to the handbooks rare because they "disturb" the "harmony" (Combine) or civil order (Confederation)

I mean what you listed it's so retarded it makes me wonder how the fuck they got to that point. Missiles are the perfect weapon for scrubs to learn the game. Ballistic are meant to be the perfect medium of firepower/range/heat in standard games and fancy stuff carries them over to post Jihad retardation. MG's are meant for crits. Super Heavies are always dogshit and have the worst BV per C-bill ratio. And are more or less meant to be just set pieces.
Why would you play Trannytech extra poz edition when you can just play Table Top sim. Or MegaMek if you don't have friends. Both of them will run better and be less stupid. Battletech the video game has been the biggest cancer upon the universe, you can blame it for everything bad happening.
