So like is any of this lore in novels btw? I'm very new to Battletech
It's fairly early lore, dating back to the books in the late 1980's.

The marriage directly resulted in the formation of the Federated Commonwealth superstate (the union between the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth), and the Fourth Succession War. It's basically the single most important political event in-universe before the arrival of the Clans a quarter century later.

The whole "you sick freak, she was only 18" cope from the Trannytech crowd is especially retarded, given this was a dynastic and political marriage, and the "space feudalism" aspect of the setting was even more prominent back then. It's like these people have never played Crusader Kings.

What's really great is "your sick tranny polycule shit has no place in Battletech" results in them immediately going "yeah well you didn't complain about the pedophilia (that only exists if you lie about it)."

This, of course, reveals they consider their tranny polycule degeneracy to be equivalent to pedophilia. (See also: "Orcs are violent subhumans who seek to destroy everything good. CLEARLY that means they're blacks." and a dozen other examples.)

18 for a political marriage is extremely tame. Is it just some sort've universal marching order that 18 year olds are to be coddled like children now? I keep hearing this crap all over.

It's your bog standard progressive stack engineering. "I identify as a grooming victim so I have more progressive izzat!"

Like when they tried to cancel the Channel Awesome guys (after the various parasites decided there was no more clout to suck from the corpse) -- one of the accusations in the "change the channel" document was some 19 year old "identified as being underage" and thus it was grooming of a minor in spirit, or somesuch.

As you should. Seriously, don't. I see that you're new to BT, semi-related but definitely check out Black Pants Legion even if his videos aren't usually for new fans as they can certainly be enjoyed by them. As for why you don't go past Clans (hell I'd argue don't touch Clans at all if you're new), it has some of the worst BT has the offer after that point and it's not worth it. God help you if you see anything Dark Ages related.
I think I've watched some of his videos, I've also been watching Science Insanity and Big Red 40-Tech. I might stop watching Science Insanity, though. They give me Adeptus Ridiculous vibes,

While everything past the Clan Invasion proper was indeed at best mishandled, at worst abysmal dogshit, there's stuff to like about every era. The nonsense FedCom civil war wasn't a bad idea, just everything about the way it happened and was resolved was bad. The Jihad had the nascent cyberpunk stuff in the setting come into the fore, even if it was fueled by pure uncut handwavium to justify everything the Wobbies did. The Dark Ages exist purely as poorly explained connective tissue at this point, but a lot of the shitcan mechs are cool and it was a bit of a return to Mad Max mechknights. The Republic era has tripod mechs even if literally everything to do with the RotS is poorly written, and ilClan has the Kontio and access to the entirety of the ruleset, even if it's peak "the script writer is on their side" writing.

Look, we're stuck with it, we might as well find the silver linings. Especially since the move into ilClan is going full steam ahead, so you'll have to learn how to deal with it if you want to play with people in real life.

The Jyhad has it's charms because, even more so than the clan invasion, it's got this feeling of "This one's for all the marbles and if we fuck it up, our asses are gonna be in the salt mines." So you can have DEST and clan elementals putting aside their differences to breach a fucking space station because holy shit, these WoB guys are fucking nuts.

The Hanse Davion marriage thing is fairly infamous and widely known even by secondaries, so they keep referring it. I'm more curious when they'll start digging deeper and discovering some interesting details in less-known lore, for example how the poor plurals were misrepresented by Caleb Davion (how can we represent the poor neuroatypical crowd as insane rapists? You can do better, Battletech!)

It all comes back to Btech's writers not being very good. Malvina being a Khan and keeping a single abuse victim in her office for years was borderline hilarious, it's like Beria keeping a single woman in the basement for his entire career. Very.... hamfisted.

definitely check out Black Pants Legion

Tex may be one of the premiere content creators, but .... he's seriously annoying. Endless unfunny memes, poor comparisons with real life, hours wasted on retarded lore schizo theories that don't go anywhere. At some point I started cheering for Amaris nuking the Black Watch. Almost as good as the Second Black Watch being hunted like animals by the Opacus Venatori.

Objectively, the Black Watch fucking sucks, and I hate Elizabeth Hazen.

That said, I like Tex, and he's OK in small doses. But he does tend to devolve into insufferable aspie therapy talk about his "PTSD" after a while. And the slightest tranny bullying immediately causes him to assume the fetal position and shit himself.

However, his real problem nowadays is that he can't just write an amusing script, source some good background images, and produce an entertaining 30 minute lore video every 3 months, like he did 6-8 years ago. Now everything has to be a 3 hour epic involving a massive production team creating network-TV quality animations and extensive filk musical numbers. All taking 18 months between episodes to produce.

Seriously, compare his enjoyable 24-minute-long Mad Cat video from back in the day with the most recent 90-minute-long Black Knight bloat fest, which should have also been sub 30 minutes.

I can't even be bothered. It's all blabbering with some high-production memery thrown in.

There's any Btech content creator that does "real gaming history", by chance? Some minor youtubers do thrown out decent content for vydia regarding the history and development of IPs (how and when the games where developed, historical comparisons, contemporary reviews) and I have read hobby books about GW's history for example (interesting to know they started being arseholes already in the late 80ies) but there is anyone doing the same stuff for Btech?

Like, the history of the designs stolen from the Japs? Why Btech feels like a naval wargame? All the weirdass late 90ies FASA shenanigans? Being a sperg I'd find that more interesting than reading from Sarna or Tex beating himself raw, but I guess that would require effort in research.

Also, the Adepticon QA are kind of funny, maybe someone will understand that PEOPLE WANTED THE FUCKING CELESTIAL FORCEPACK YOU FUCKING FUCKS IT WAS NOT THAT HARD

I'd blame his Amaris Civil War and Clan Primer videos for the change to feature film length slop, before them his longest BT video was on the Blackjack (43m) and then afterwards you're look at 1-2hr. Another good comparison is his 26 minute Tukayyid video and his 2hr11m Tywcross video, a good 40 minutes of the latter is filler but its still roughly four times as long to cover a single battle.

Oh god, I thought I was the only one. The "I'm a grizzled Periphery merc" LARP, the weird tendency to drop the definite article whenever he mentions the Star League..
OK in small doses
That's about the size of it.

As for the borderline child bride: Enh. The entire setting is 'so like the ruling royal families of old Europe but in spaaaaaaaaaaaace', you're lucky it's only borderline.

I like the Twycross video since it at least went over the Clans' campaigns into Rasalhague and Draconis Combine space that was going on at the same time too. Black Knight video was a slog to get through though and I haven't watched it since it came out.

I liked the Marauder video, but that's assuredly because I'm the Marauder's biggest fan. I don't have anything against long-form content, I'm not brainfried enough to not be able to sit down and pay attention for a couple hours, but it does have to be interesting, and Tex just has issues with that. The artificially deep voice grates after a while, and the roleplay is at best embarrassing when it goes on for longer than an establishing shot.

Having watched enough of his gameplay videos, the voice isn't fake. I honestly think it just depends on if he records after work or on a day off.

Science Insanity
Oh yeah I've watched them briefly, they're pretty much just another Adeptus Ridiculous or whatever, completely with the non-nerd niggercattle who clearly does not like nerd culture beyond normie shit who's there to be an uncultured retard for people's amusement.

Honestly I will never not find it funny how such absolute losers get so upset that they can't get any that they'll call a man a creep or even a pedophile if they're older than the women.
