26 heat capacity means you really cannot fire all your weapons at once.
I got spoiled for choice with the piranha 2 in terms of light clan mechs because a lot of my playgroup uses infantry, light vehicles and battle armor. They’re soft bodies, but make the heat economy annoying.

The -C carries an ATM-6 with one ton of each ammo type, and four ER MLs linked to a targeting computer. Not terrible; you can harass with the ATM at long range, then when they close switch to the HE rounds and your lasers.
I have to agree, that’s definitely a harasser ‘mech.

Doing a defense game set in the civil war era tomorrow where I'm defending against two players. They get 4k BV Each while I'm rocking 8k to make it even so this'll be fun
How many Urbanmechs can you buy with 8,000 points? I mean you're defending so the speed doesn't matter, right? Let them come to the loving embrace of the AC10/AC20 ammo.

So if I buy the UrbanMech UM-R60L, that's 470 BV. That's 17 UrbanMechs at 7990 BV. Which mind you would be hilarious but I don't have a store near me that sells that many mechs.

So far, I'm thinking of bringing the Axeman 3S, Banshee 5S, Black Knight 12, and then the Marauder II 5a

Paint the 17 of them like Thing 1 and Thing 2. Red, with a white circle and the number on their chest, and a teal cockpit

Imagine this amusement when you pull out "Urbie 17"... then Urbie 16, Urbie 15... one at a time. Slowly. Until he realizes you actually have 17 of the damned things.

Bonus if you speak in Seussian English whenever you core one of his mechs

"Did we shoot him in the knee?
Did we melt his Center T?
We did not care for his PPC!
We shot his core, as you can see,
With thirty tons of Urbie glee!"

"He was ninety tons of iron and brass!
He had shiny armor and heavy glass!
But seventeen Urbies blocked the pass--
We kicked him right in his fusion reactor!
Now he is just a salvage factor!"

"Would he die upon a hill?
Would he die by jump-jet skill?
Would he fall to autocannon fire?
Would his gyro spark and pyre?
Yes! He fell! He hit the floor!
Urbie-7 scores one more!"

Then someone brings a lance of Longbow's and drowns the Urbies in a hail of LRM's. Heck those 2 Medium lasers might be enough in close combat if it isn't an urban combat field

Working my way through the Jade Phoenix Trilogy. This is probably the most invested I've been in a Battletech book. It's pretty enjoyable and learning the ins and outs of the clans from a clanners perspective has been fascinating
It's probably one of the better written ones. I would love some of more intro tech era with that old school feel. But I'm a grog.... wait does not liking the Derp Age count as grog still?

Getting amped for newest MW5 stuff. lot of reskins but omni Black Jack will def get a work out by me and my lance.

The Pack Hunter isn't terrible as a sniper and harasser, but that's about all it can do. At least it has good mobility as a 7/11/7, and getting hit by an ER-PPC more than a couple times will make any opposition unhappy.
The Pack Hunter was always one of my favorites. Throw a top notch gunner in there and plink away. Sooner or later you're going to score a really good hit on something and a headcapper at 23 hexes with that kind of mobility is nice. Like the missile patrol boats of the Persian Gulf in the 1980s it can best be described as an eggshell with a sledgehammer, but it's so sweet to use.

I'll have to pick up Wolves on the border. Currently making my way through the Jade Falcon trilogy
Definitely pick up Wolves on the Border if you haven't already, it's an awesome book. And if anyone else is on the fence about reading it, I will once again post its original cover.

It's just impossible for a book with a cover this kino to be bad.

ok heres my idea for mech assault 3:

The tetatae become super advanced and during their technological progression they received ancient signals from earth's internet from the 21st century. and they become obsessed with sassy cockatoo influencers from the COVID lockdown.
The tetate travel to the inner sphere, looking for a sassy birb to worship. but they are all dead, and the tetatae are piiiiiiiiiiised
the player must go back in time to 2021 and find an tiktok cockatoo to take back with them to the 37th century

I would gladly accept Clan Sassy Cockatoo as my IlClan. Fuck that furry faggot Alaric.

I’m amused by the 40K players that get into battletech who are beholden to the “what you see is what you get” rule. I was fielding a battlemaster from the aGoAC box as a battlemaster C3 and the guy I was playing with, who’s a 40K refugee didn’t understand that you can pick your model in classic because it’s miniature agnostic. I have a metal battlemaster C3 at home, but haven’t been able to slap some paint onto it yet.

Hell, ninety percent of casual BT matches will have at least one proxy. It's not usually an issue since every mech adheres to the same rules anyways.

I like to troll 40k players on occasion by pointing out that BT's phase system simulates frantic battle much better than 40k's stupid 'I move and shoot and etc, then you move and shoot and etc'.
