The dude I posted about earlier on in this thread mentioned a couple of times how animals are easier to read than women and shit like that. So for some it might be a case of the 'tism or some other form of social retardation where people go: "hey, this dog/horse/animal really seems to like me and smelled my crotch, this is what love must be". Because human emotions are too complex and difficult for them.

Others might just be straight up abusive assholes who know they can get away with raping a living being as long as that living being isn't able to tell on them.
