You install it and typeyt-dlp URLinto the command line, pretty much. Like most software if there's anything particular you want to do check the manual or search it and someone probably asked on stackoverflow.

if you're having trouble with downloading a video and getting: error 403. then put --extractor-args "youtube:player_js_version=actual" after yt-dlp and before your url.
i assume it's a problem on youtube's end, and the new update broke stuff.

Still doesn't work, just keep getting the error that it's not a valid URL when I try to download the mp4.

I was following Null's guide here and entered "yt-dlp.exe -F 91" after looking up the formats.
I just looked up another guide and apparently I was doing it wrong, I had to change it to lower case -f and enter the 91 before the URL and I finally got it to work.

Yes -F stands for "list all of the available formats" whereas -f NUMBER stands for "actually download the format labelled NUMBER" so only the second needs a number to be specified (we say it takes an argument). So if you use -F 91 the program will interpret 91 as the URL, because it isn't expecting -F to be followed by anything else.

i couldnt finish recording it w my obs all janky. anyone know a way to get it back despite being private by uploader ??? devastated!!!!

so bunjeeee told me that it was on patreon oopsie daisies but getting it on kemono is taking far too long bc its a four hour stream LOL so if anyone can like help guide my retarded ass thru a way to grab the patreon vod to download???? id post here and the archive but that yt-dlp keeps throwing me w the commands lmao i havent used shit like that in a literal decade.
