Going to add to this tangent because we actually had a Spaniard kiwi explain it somewhat in the International Clique (I don’t know if they did it in the featured thread too) in service of a fairer comparison.

Believe it or not is a lot more complicated than just a migrant stampede as Morocco is pursuing the Greater Morocco plot which has worked by undoing Spain’s influence in Africa since decolonization. It is a given there were glowies at Ceuta disguised as migrants. They don’t organize things as much as they benefit from the chaos around them.

Outside of that, Moroccans serve the same stereotypes in Spain as Mexicans do in the US. Almost one to one.

Bunjeeee concluding that Bryke only completed ATLA well through an act of God is surprisingly accurate. If anything, it forced them into a corner when it came to sequels because it ended almost perfectly from a character standpoint... and they've spent the last decade and a half making it worse.

I looked that up to see if it's true, and holy shit it is. Dang, I never knew that.

I'll admit I'm kinda glad that Filoni didn't stick around after the first season, cause he probably would've ruined it with shitty fanfiction shenanigans like he did with Clone Wars.

Man, I wish he'd go off for at least double that runtime, everything is on point, plus shit I wasn't even paying attention to. By the time Tagah and Aang started fighting, my investment was fully gone. He's such a stupid fucking villain, his plan and motivations are retarded, and all the OG characters were basically cameos in their own movie. It's insane how ATLA is a picture-perfect example of lightning in a bottle, not a single thing that came after is remotely close to good, even on its own merits.

Oh, and I really hope he does a video on Korra just to further shit on that abomination of a show/character. Expanding into media coverage has been a fantastic move for him since covering lolcows has been rather dry lately. He's really good at this. Great balance of humor and insight.

In retrospect, I think E;R was just saying the right things at the right time. I've been rewatching a few of the old videos, and it feels like the only stuff that's really worthwhile are the reviews where he dedicates more time to shitting on something than explaining why it's bad (I.E. Mad Maxine). The rest are rather boring reviews with mild social commentary sprinkled in. He CAN still make videos like Mad Maxine, his Dispatch video is a somewhat recent example (November 2025), but I guess he doesn't have the energy for it anymore.

To be fair to them, that's almost every creative who made something good twenty years ago. I could accept the idea that that every subsequent generation will only make slop as a symptom of societal decay, but it feels like every single established writer/director has jumped off a cliff. Maybe those particle collider jokes weren't so far off after all.
