Blink Twice - A film rant

Went to see the film with my girlfriend, both of us had no idea what it was and oh boy, it was real something.

Summary: The plot is that the heroine, a crack whore, and her crack whore friend sneak into a gala by totally not Weinstein/Epstein dude who previously was in a sex scandal and now lives on his own island. They befriend the dude in the gala and fly with him and his buddies into the island. In the island the group constantly drinks booze, and take hard drugs. The movie hints at a mystery by time jumps, weird bruises and no one really follows the progress of time, reaching the climax the heroine's crack whore friend disappears without no one knowing or remembering her besides the heroine. The big reveal is that none of the women on the island knew the men before the gala, and they are raped every night, but they take a special perfume in the morning that makes them magically forget everything. Crack whore got bitten by a snake and that's why she remembered the abuse and that's why she got killed.

So far it's already full of plot holes but it gets dumber as there's a reveal that the magic forgetting perfume is countered by snake venom extracted from a snake that happens to live on the island, which is very convenient. From there the heroine makes the rest of the women remember the abuse and then the final act as the women somehow overpower every of the male abusers despite weighting half their weight (there is no additional security despite having plenty of non white men on the compound). The film ends with the heroine making Epstein forget everything (somehow putting the conveniently on hand perfume into his vape without him noticing which magically affects him immediately and causes him to get knocked out by slipping on a carpet). The final scene has her become the top of Epstein's company with her puppeteering him by drugs (or blackmail?), and I don't mean figuratively, I mean literally she somehow becomes SLAY QUEEN Le Presidente despite even nepotistic as fuck USA corpos never allowing it.

So that's the summary which is already retarded and full of plot conveniences (the biggest is how no one finds out about missing dead women, or how rapes never cause any internal wounds or rope scratches). But the politics are the things most rant worthy:

* First of all the film is blatantly anti white. The heroine at one point talks about the male rapists as "Those white men" as if niggers and spics are incapable of rape. Of course the heroine is a black and the first few shots of the film are of black people to drive home the film is DEI compliant, despite only having one main black character (the heroine). Though maybe you can consider the film as based because the therapist responsible to planting the idea of rape island as the most Jewish name possible and he gets liquidated at the end by the heroine apparently having the power to just randomly kill people due to money.

* Of course the film is also anti male, in a rather extreme fucked up way. Epstein apparently suffered sexual abuse by his father but doesn't remember it, pretty much proclaiming the idea that abuse is only a female issue. The old white woman working for the villain takes the perfume to forgot what she is responsible for because there can be no women committing abuse as well that can live with that idea. Additionally, one of the white males on the island doesn't participate in the abuse and he has a couple of minutes about how he is worse than the abusers for not doing anything about it, despite him not having any way of helping. Also the film spends couple of minute on how men saying sorry for abuse they cause is always a lie.

* The film might be the most victim blaming bait I've ever heard. As the women in it travel to a remote area, take drugs and alcohol of their own volition and then gets surprised that they are raped. But even that's bullshit since the entire reason they are there is to fuck Epstein and marry into money. If we take the whole forgetfulness perfume as some retarded metaphor for acting couch (especially as the film have the women repeat that they need to smile and behave as they are not there) then the plot devolves into whores selling their bodies for money and getting whore's remorse for it and the audience should root for them.

* The final scene has the expected case where the heroine is now seen as a cool person as abusing her abuser, cementing the whole thing being about power play rather than the horrors of abuse and how they cause permanent issues.

* Considering the real event in Epstein's Island, the film is absolutely disgraceful as it takes the real abuse of children and puts whores as the "real victims" while covering up Ghislaine Maxwell as another victim. It's a top case of middle class women psychopathy where they can't even feel bad for children and needs women their same age to be the victims.

Total Radfem Death (the rest of the date went well despite the film).

I was considering watching it, so thank you. Hopefully Channing Tatum hasn't gotten himself roped into living life with one of the crazy ones and there's hope for Zoe 🤔

Why invent a fantasy amnesia drug if everyone's drinking booze and doing drugs anyway, have they really never heard the term black out drunk before? Sounds like it misses the actual horror of situations like this, these people and young children are pressured by promises of there wildest dreams and then blackmailed by some of the most powerful and connected people into some of sickest shit imaginable and have literally zero ways to fight back or retaliate. There is a good movie in the idea of people being forced to endure shit like that or else face " the implications" but that would require talent and some actual tact but that's more serious drama territory and not trashy girl power horror trite.

Blink twice, but knock three times on the ceiling if you want me. Twice on the pipe, if the answer is no.

It's an interesting idea but the whole amnesia angle is just dumb.

So that's why it's bombing lmao. Who thought this was a good idea?

Because then the audience would call out the women for drugging themselves, nevermind the men also do hard drugs but of course it's not an excuse for them. Basically "rules for you but not for me".

There seems to be an oversaturation of horror films these days, probably due to them being cheap. The film itself is just ugly and uncomfortable in the bad way. Having it be a legitimately mystery rather than "la men bad" would have at least made it interesting.

"A film by Zoe Kravitz"

Once I saw that I was pretty sure this movie would be shit. The funniest thing is that being a nepo-baby, I doubt she has any first hand experience with any of the film's topics.

Who would have thought that there would be two black hughbox movies in theaters at the same time.

I wouldn't call it a radfem film.
The female lead was such a brazen pickme she even ends up in competition with her past self. She escaped the island once but went straight back by instinct because she was so wedded to landing a wealthy dude.
The post menopausal Geena Davis is shown as the betrayer of all womenkind, while all the young still hot bikini babes are unconvincingly supportive of each other in the last act.
And the lead is happy to sell out her dead best friend by marrying her murderer so she gets access to his millions, while the more middle class rapist, Kyle McLachlan's character, gets arrested at the end.
Oh, and Kravitz hired Christian Slater, who did time for punching his girlfriend.
I would say the film is so muddled, to say it conformed to any political thought would be giving it too much credit.

It made attempts at race theory - the Good Foreign lady the lead immediately patronises 'I'm not a narc!' and how the Puerto Rican and black girls were the most *~Girl Power~* and got to live while the whities were dumber and died faster; but then again, the black one risking her life (and physics by dragging Channing Tatum out all by herself, lol) so she could be Mrs Tech Bro kind of reverse unoed it into a Beyonce style black women will throw other women under the bus to land a rich dude. Which is probably a story closer to Zoe Kravitzs heart than Epstein.

It wouldn't be an extremist political movie if it wasn't incredibly unsubtle at his messages while the plot itself makes that messaging collapse on itself.
