My buddy owns a LAN center/game and hobby store, every week we host a board game night. I'm always trying to find new board games for he regulars to try out.
We like the politics games like The Resistance, Warewolf, and BANG!.
As for resource management games we've played Catan (original, seafarers, and Star Trek), Argicolo, and Power Grid.
For dumb random games we have King of Tokyo, Flux, Chrononauts, Munchkin, Gloom, and Guilloten.
I'm trying to get a copy of Shadows Over Camelot.
And, of course, we have 4 Nightmare/ATMOSFEAR games (original, Baron Semidi, The Harbingers, and the DVD version) for this month.

Any suggestions (we have a 12-yr old kid come in so please keep it PG)

Also if anyone has a copy of this I'll give you all the gold in China for it!!

Pretty Pretty Princess!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, if you want board game suggestions, I definitely suggest looking on the show Beer and Board Games, they usually feature good games that fun for the whole family (even though they can get a little wild at times, but don't worry, a majority of them featured are definitely fun and suitable for 12-year-olds or grandma or whoever. Sometimes, they just like getting wild or making up their own rules as you will see on the show, but most of them are fine.)

King of Tokyo is fun. I played that this summer. Power Grid is great, too.

It's a solo or two person game, but Castle Panic is fun. You have to fight against da trolls ]:(P

Carcassonne (sp?) is good, too. If you like Catan you'd like it.

Killer Bunnies is a goofy, fun game if you have some time to kill (it's a card game). There's not much strategy, just silliness and dumb luck.

Have fun. Chris would envy you ]:(P :D

Only board game that comes to mind for me is Scrabble. :/ My family and I have quite a thing for Scrabble.

Oh! Oh! Dragon Strike! With the video and everything! I can't believe I forgot that!

I enjoy the Arkham Horror board games.
We played Arkham a few times and I love it, but that and Game of Thrones just takes so long, it's like 6 hours of you have people who've never played

Now I want to play Dragon strike. (:_(

For horror, I :heart-full: Betrayal at House on the Hill.

Also Citadels and Cyclades for strategy. Apples to Apples and Taboo are family friendly games. Tsuro is short and sweet.

The Flash. We usually ban that character card from the game since both are so good.

Maybe its because my cousin always plays Ox, we never had a problem with him. Though he did nearly beat me to death once, but yea.

Board games, as you may know, are my sperg territory so I'll try and tackle it, though you gotta be more specific what you want in the future.

Here' are some good games that I recommend which I think are good because I'm a board game sperg and that you'll probably like based on what you've played or what you might like or might get you more into the board gaming hobby:

-Carcassonne (which someone has already mentioned)
-Lords of Waterdeep (D&D themed worker placement, I thought it was a bit generic but if you've never played a worker placement game, it's a good one to start)
-Acquire (it's the same theme as Monopoly - building hotels - except it's done right and is a very good economic game. You can buy stocks, invest in other people's hotel chains, merge chains, all sorts of stuff. Get a version from the 60s ones with the real plastic tiles, the newer ones have these cardboard tiles that don't lock in the board and suck)
-Mascarade (it's a new game that came out, I got it at Gen Con. Someone mentioned Citadels, I haven't played Citadels but from what I've heard it's like Citadels. It's a game that largely relies on bluffing and it can support up to 13 people)
-Rise of Augustus (it's Roman themed bingo, but it's jazzed up and actually involves strategy).
-Dominion - (a deck builder game. Not a lot of player interaction though but there's a shitton of different combinations so it's not like it plays the same over and over)
-7 Wonders (it's a card drafting game - you start out with a hand of cards, you take one, and then you pass it to the next player who chooses from that set of cards, and so on. It's a nice bit of strategy, deciding whether you want a card for yourself or you want to do something to deprive your opponent a card).
-Alien Frontiers (it's a worker placement game involving dice and the nice thing is you're trying to roll different stuff for what you want. The new edition should be out next month).
-Alhambra (a tile laying game. I'm not a big fan of tile laying games but this has an economic aspect to it as you essentially buy tiles to add to your alhambra, your mansion)
-Puerto Rico (a step up from Catan and those sort of games. It's got role selection and it's often about choosing what will benefit you versus choosing something to fuck over your opponent)

If you like RPGs, Descent: Journeys into the Dark is like a board game version of an RPG. The Pathfinder Adventure Card game, which I have, is similar, it's like an RPG with cards instead of pen and paper.

I've played Shadows Over Camelot, I wasn't really impressed with it. If you're more into a sci fi theme, I'd check out Battlestar Galactica - it's got the traitor element like Shadows Over Camelot except it's BSG themed. It probably helps to know the show to get into the theme but it's not really required beyond the basic premise of the show.

I second Puerto Rico, although it is a bit complex, so 12 may be on the lower end of the recommended ages range. I think a family I know who's into board games got the game when their youngest daughter was 10-12 and she had difficulty with the game.

We've played Puerto Rico. I haven't heard of about half of what Champ suggested, so I'll have to look into it.

Killer Bunnies is a goofy, fun game if you have some time to kill (it's a card game). There's not much strategy, just silliness and dumb luck.

I played this as a drinking game with friends, taking shots when bunnies dir. We were sick at 1 hour, and really angry at two
