You know what bothers me most about boomers? Barring the glaring financial stuff, how expensive it is to keep them alive, how they take
$50 wages for granted, etc., it's their shifting of blame onto young people even when it doesn't make sense.
Family reunion anecdote: I saw an old woman angrily confront her 20-year-old granddaughter for not "doing enough" to fix the trajectory of this country, for being numb and jaded toward the voting process. She raged at this girl until she was moved to tears.
Excuse me, how else is a young girl supposed to feel in this day and age? Especially since that old woman's generation is what brought on a lot of the political and moral corruptions we're seeing. It's not one young adult's responsibility to unfuck the country, either. What brought on this vicious teardown was the granddaughter saying she isn't going to vote anymore because it's rigged, which it absolutely is.
When challenged on these schizophrenic accusations by other family members, the old woman said something like, "well, my generation wasn't aware of how bad things were becoming."
Yeah, and now you're facing the consequences of your ignorance. That's how it goes. You didn't care and now your descendants are suffering in the world you helped create. You could've stood up against government overreach, but you didn't.
I'll add to that and say that this is another problem with hyperpolitical people in general who do nothing but yell and bitch about how everything sucks. I think a lot of us here are concious of politics, but these boomers only conveniently care about society and the state of things once it starts personally affecting them. All of a sudden, they're in tune with the news and politics is ALL they talk about. They're obsessed with their dogwater variant of politics which they get from TV or social media feeds. It doesn't help that they're some of the most gullible people ever, and doesn't bother to dig deeper beyond what outrages them.
They didn't give a damn in their youth. Drank, did drugs, had sex with strangers, and whatever hedonistic activities you can think of, and take no responsibility for the inevitable cultural downfall. Then they truly expect the younger generations to fix everything for them. If they don't, they're deemed evil, useless, immoral, or stupid by the boomers who have gutted their futures.
