Boomer Hate Thread

If you hate security and comfort so much, feel free to go live in the woods, mountains, or San Francisco.
The whole point is that seeking safety and comfort in the woods, mountains or leftist bughive of San Francisco have been a very sound and winning strategy for humanity since its inception, until now. Humanity has never been in a period prior where the benefits of discarding safety and comfort haven't vastly been outweighed by the drawbacks. We are at a unique point in human history and development where the need for safety and comfort is often not only detrimental to us, but more importantly directly counterproductive, resulting in us being objevtively more unsafe and uncomfortable. The increasing tendency of wanting to lean on the state and legislate everything under the sun is one prominent example of the dangers of the incessant struggle for the feeling of cushy security.

Didn't the hippies all make communes in 'the woods' in the 60s?

When did cities become the leftist 'safe zone' ?

I'm not too familiar with the behaviours and intricate operations of the hippies of the past, other than that I have a cursory understanding and approval of the derision they're subjected to, on account of them being quite clearly raging, useless faggots.

Of course I didn't mean to imply that cities in general are "leftist safe zones"; that would be ludicrous. I believe some cities most certainy are though, where for example rampant and excessive welfare create the very living situations they were intended to counteract.

These were almost all unmitigated disasters. They either just failed catastrophically or turned into literal cults. A very few continued to exist and some turned into something like businesses. For a really old example, consider the Amana Society, a utopian community in the 19th Century in Iowa, which eventually morphed into a collection of villages that still exists to this day and has run numerous businesses. (The Amana appliances you might have seen are manufactured by them.)

But for an example of the hippie version of the failing version of this, I'd recommend Mark Vonnegut's (son of Kurt) The Eden Express, which is mostly about his struggles with schizophrenia but in the context of a disastrous attempt to found a small self-sufficient colony in the wilderness.

I know someone who works in elder care. She has a client who is extremely morbidly obese and shits all over her bed, in the tub and on the floor instead of the toilet. I guess she's too fat and her mobility is too poor to get it in the toilet? Is she too fat to fit on it right? Does she have to leave logs of poop everywhere? I feel like if you can sit on a toilet you should be able to get some in there at least.
The woman has two carers that come on different days. She tells them to "just wash the sheets" them her whole bed is covered in feces. The other worker does what she says and just literally washes the sheets but my friend washes all her bedding.
My friend is very compassionate and keeps her as a client bc she "is a sweetheart" apparently.

I’m indifferent to Boomers. I’ve met some really cool ones and some not so good ones. The older Boomers I can kind of understand having a massive fear of commies, mostly because in the early 50s and into parts of the 60s, they lived during the Red Scare and fear of nuclear war. Is it useful for government policy today? Not really, but given that kind of exposure at a young age, I can see why it would be a hard habit to break. Of course, there are actual commie Boomers too, but they’re pretty much grifters (like Angela Davis).

IMO Boomer is an insult that describes a mindset combining entitlement, ignorance, immediate gratification, unwillingness to learn and short-term thinking while blaming the young for the consequences of these behaviors. Basically the Baby Boomers who had a cushy upbringing during the prosperity of the mid-late 1950s and 1960s, i.e. born on third base and thought you hit a triple.

On the other hand, the members of that generation that grew up poor (like my parents) and achieved later success don't remotely have that same attitude.

Reviving this thread in light of recent articles from A&N.

You know what bothers me most about boomers? Barring the glaring financial stuff, how expensive it is to keep them alive, how they take $50 wages for granted, etc., it's their shifting of blame onto young people even when it doesn't make sense.

Family reunion anecdote: I saw an old woman angrily confront her 20-year-old granddaughter for not "doing enough" to fix the trajectory of this country, for being numb and jaded toward the voting process. She raged at this girl until she was moved to tears.

Excuse me, how else is a young girl supposed to feel in this day and age? Especially since that old woman's generation is what brought on a lot of the political and moral corruptions we're seeing. It's not one young adult's responsibility to unfuck the country, either. What brought on this vicious teardown was the granddaughter saying she isn't going to vote anymore because it's rigged, which it absolutely is.

When challenged on these schizophrenic accusations by other family members, the old woman said something like, "well, my generation wasn't aware of how bad things were becoming."

Yeah, and now you're facing the consequences of your ignorance. That's how it goes. You didn't care and now your descendants are suffering in the world you helped create. You could've stood up against government overreach, but you didn't.

I'll add to that and say that this is another problem with hyperpolitical people in general who do nothing but yell and bitch about how everything sucks. I think a lot of us here are concious of politics, but these boomers only conveniently care about society and the state of things once it starts personally affecting them. All of a sudden, they're in tune with the news and politics is ALL they talk about. They're obsessed with their dogwater variant of politics which they get from TV or social media feeds. It doesn't help that they're some of the most gullible people ever, and doesn't bother to dig deeper beyond what outrages them.

They didn't give a damn in their youth. Drank, did drugs, had sex with strangers, and whatever hedonistic activities you can think of, and take no responsibility for the inevitable cultural downfall. Then they truly expect the younger generations to fix everything for them. If they don't, they're deemed evil, useless, immoral, or stupid by the boomers who have gutted their futures.

yeah but it's okay because they'll all be dead in 10 years lol

Can I take their jobs? Or will it go to a diversity hire/woman? I'm brown, but I guess that's not enough anymore.

Zoomer here. I envy them.

Same sentiment, but I also hate them, And I now finally understand how the kids end up becoming socialists singing "Ok Boomer". That song caught on with Trumpers too for a reason.

Boomers are pretty much what everyone says they are, cultural conservatives who were bigtime liberals in their youth. Now they prance about in their paid off suburban houses wagging their collective fingers at the youth who are struggling to afford a 2k/mo 1 bedroom box saying "They have it easy".

They all have good connections for easy AF jobs where they sit around and take fat checks or SS and they think all the kids have access to this.

I personally know boomers with struggling kids, and instead of investing to get them a starter house or something, they go on cruises or yearly European vacations every summer. The kids are sometimes losers, daughters socialist whores, etc. But who raised them? And ALL of the ones I know are like this. "My money is for me, go make your own". They all think its 1970 and their favorite shit president is in office, usually Reagan, reverse mortgages anyone?

Then there is the sex, these hedonists were banging suspiciously young virgin girls in the back of their cars in exchange for rides to the mall. These days, I would get labeled as something that starts with P if I so much as say hello to a woman under 30 who has less than 2 kids.

Western family values make me sick, Europe is not nearly this bad and I wonder where this poisonous culture came from, actually I do know...

Even worse, they demand veneration, as if since they have become old, they've become wise. They make the same mistakes they've made for 60 fucking years.

This one makes me the angriest. "Never trust anyone over 30" was a fucking rallying cry of a generation. Then it turned out that same generation could be trusted over 30, but certainly the newer one couldn't, and neither the one after. And dear God, don't even get me started on Boomer "parenting", or lack-thereof.

FFFFFFFFF, I hate boomers so bad. I just ripped the ugly carpet and crowbarred all of the nail-laden wooden strips from a beautiful set of wooden stairs in my 124-year-old home. There're staples and nails leftover, and a disintegrating yellow foam caked with decades-old dust on every step. Why did they all do this shit?

Why did they all do this shit?
It was fashionable/they wanted it and didn't think of/didn't care about the history of the item they messed with. This is/was a common thing with historical firearms getting hacked together "modernization's":

this guy actually pulls up an IMO salient point on why boomers are the way they are that made me rethink my stance on them a bit
yeah, yeah, I know, >tiktok, but it's still thunk-provoking

TL;DW: Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

I think that's one of the things I hate most about boomers. Their jobs were easy but they still failed. Now the people who can barely turn a computer on want specific degrees to work in a daycare or be a receptionist. Who do I see eating at the fast food places and food courts staffed entirely by "Newcomers"? Boomers and the Silent Generation.
