This is the #1 hottest commodity on the market. Old fucks want them so they can downsize into them after selling their mcmansion, or they want them as investment properties. Any affordable housing in non-shit neighborhoods is at a premium because of this. You need to understand that single family home rentals tend to be a money losing prospect over time. Boomers are just so retarded that they don't run the numbers to realize it. They've seen, unadjusted for inflation, massive increases in property values over their lifetime and assume the number will always go up. The cost of maintaining the properties and opportunity cost is lost on them.

Elsewhere, the sprawling ghettos of blacks, browns, and various foreigners suck up the rest of the affordable housing. Even if the boomers die, you'll need to get rid of these groups if you want affordable starter houses back. Otherwise, ghetto expansion is the future. And to be clear, ghettos play by different investment rules. There's a lot of welfare money, almost non-existent expected upkeep, and under the table money exchanges keeping it profitable. If a tenant pays in cash, doesn't exist on your books, and no party wants to acknowledge them as a legal tenant, why would you tell the government it's rented out? Write it off as unoccupied and hope the taxman doesn't look too hard into a slum.

If your coffee tasted like burnt rubber, you're incompetent and your parents clearly didn't beat you enough. A moka pot is extremely easy to use and it's the same for a French press, which is why both were used by immigrants with very little to their names. If you cannot use such a simple tool, I seriously doubt that your financial security was won through competence instead of pure luck. That's what also pisses me off about the boomer generation the most. The vast majority of them should've been useless druggies overdosing under a bridge, but they lucked out into the most forgiving era of human history.

This definitely does happen a lot. Lots of regional problems too though. But generally areas with lots of employment in both the blue collar and white collar also have tons of immigrants you are competing with for houses. That's a whole other level of bullshit itself.

I'm old. But I am not that old. I paid $170k for a 3/2, ~1500 SQFT house in a major Texas metro in 2016. When I tell people that they think I'm full of shit. Things were really generally affordable before like 2021.
 
Didn't know until now how much I needed to read this thread, it's a cathartic experience. My boomer dad has become insufferable lately but this gave me energy to deal with him again (hopefully)

I noticed from being around some oldheads lately that they treat AI like someone gave them their own personal digital house nigger that they can boss around all day. Probably thought they were being "clever" by demanding that the mechanical dalit writes it for them, probably because I'VE GOT MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO TODAY, TIME IS MONEY, BUCKAROO!

Workplaces buy the shittiest coffee. They have special brands just for office breakrooms. Where they get their beans, I cannot say. I assume it's from the leftover stock that was too burnt even for starbucks. Using the exact same espresso machine with no changes, just switching to coffee beans from the local supermarket improved the coffee quality substantially.

I'm 99% sure most people who pour sugar and creamer into their coffee don't like the flavor of coffee or have only had shit coffee. On an unrelated note, my boomer mom consumes at least 500 calories a day in coffee creamer and sugar. I'm sure there's no correlation between her competence and insistence in making herself obese with liquid calories.

I mentioned before how quite a few boomers are still working and hogging up positions because of poor spending choices aka Susan/Gerald/Mark/Karen blowing their savings in Vegas on their 60th birthday.

If you pissed your money away stupidly and you’re 65+ and still working? Too fucking bad, so sad. Maybe then they can see how hard it is to try to survive like “those damn kids that need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.”

Time to bring in some fresh new blood.

Honestly, even the Great Value knockoff of Dunkin Donuts in K-cups is good enough to drink black. It's a medium roast, the general roast for at least semi-decent beans. Starcucks sucks. McDonald's coffee is absolutely superior, even if the rest of their shit has fallen off the chart entirely.

Usually, the way this happens is that workplaces try to fire expensive senior workers. This is only much of an issue with government and tenured jobs. Which, naturally, means our government is filled to the brim with old, useless people. Some call the geriatric division of the government by its unofficial name, congress.

Consider them/him as emotionally disabled.

If you look at their garbage attitudes/souls/behaviors as a disability it makes it way easier to cope with.

This has improved my relationship with my elders like 100000%. You'll stop being like "Are you fucking kidding me when you were my age homes were like $20k!!" and start being like "That's so interesting Dad, want me to put on Wheel?"

They're usually not very surgical about this because they're fucking idiots. They won't fire some boomer equivalent of Wally from Dilbert, they'll fire the one guy who knows how to maintain their most important machines.

It's just so confusing because my dad used to be rather normal and understanding. Something happened when he turned 60, suddenly he berates me for not owning a house and having a well paid job despite previously understanding the economical situation and house prices being insane. I have a masters degree that is useless now because the goverment suddenly decided to stop funding our department and almost everyone lost their jobs.

He doesn't have social media either so I don't know where he gets it all from. It's like his brain switched into the most stereotypical boomer as soon as he turned 60.
 
I've been watching old industrial videos from some stock video-channel just buying up and digitizing celluloid. They might have titles like:
Basic filing (1954)
Common handtools (1948)
and so on.

These videos are extremely concise, clear and would have been extremely useful as a beginner. Pull the file this way not that way choose this file over this file. They are also beautifully but simply animated.

This is what the boomers got taught.

What the boomers teach:

-Don't do it like that! You'll ruin the file.
-Stop sawing crooked you need to let the saw guide it self.
-What the hell are you doing you're going to ruin it. Don't you know anything?
-I'll do it myself.

I used to think that maybe they were so experienced that they had forgotten all the basics and maybe they were self thought so they never had any theory about what their hands were doing. Turns out its something else behind their retarded behavior.

Any ideas?
