Boomer Hate Thread

Something honestly sad I see at the hospital is how many times I’ll walk by a boomer patients room and they’ll either have CNN or Fox News blasting on full volume. It’s ALWAYS one or the other.

Half the time they’ll either be asleep as it’s on or glued to the TV, mostly ignoring any friends or family who are visiting.

One woman’s room in ICU I walked by today who was in her 70’s had Fox on blast, and she was just sitting there, dead mackerel eyes locked on the ceiling.

It’s sad in that, they could be spending their final days with their family, and yet they choose to worry about shit they have no control over.

I don't understand why anyone would want to watch the news while in the hospital. Nothing on there is going to be good for your mental health. Turn on something nice like Animal Planet or Food Network. Maybe watch some cartoons. Watch TV Land. Anything but the Doomer Show.

For Boomers, the repetitive noises are comforting. The weather channel is the same way. These channels are deisgned to hypnotize rather than inform. If you try sitting and watching them for a couple hours, you'll see how insidious the loop is.

its bonkers how they seriously think that not having children hurts the elites. there's just so much common sense that has flown directly over their heads and as a consequence they have gone around needlessly breaking down cultural norms, even those they enjoyed during their childhood. it's also been previously mentioned how they complain at length about christian fundamentalists yet the more feminist/activist members of that generation have literally adopted the same exact takes but with different labels on them. fundamentalists opposed sexualization in media because "it's a sin", completely ignoring precedent like the song of songs (iykyk). feminists opposed sexualization in media because "muh objectifying women".

both these views pushed a lot of people towards porn and other fucked up shit as they had been trained that anything sexual = bad, yet most people cannot go 100% monk mode so it is inevitable that many men will go "fuck it, i'm gonna go all in on the bad" and succumb to the pornsickness. you can see this with gen z, and in particular the incel "movement" - collapse of social norms left legions of young men single, shunned, isolated, etc before their sexuality had even developed and as a result of that + the artificial availability of hardcore pornography many became serious gooners. however developed human instinct (LOGIC) and what little tradition & religion we have left recognizes that pornography is bad. so now you have teens & preteens, who still are developing their worldview & sexuality (not in an LGBT way I mean vanilla heterosexual relations) having their worldview warped by porn and their sexuality effectively shaped by it from the very start. these guys recognize that porn and masturbation is dogshit, yet both are the only sexuality they have, so they begin to hate that-and as they are attracted to women, therein lies the hostility towards women. we should feel bad for these people instead of demonizing them as bigots or misogynists or gooners or anything else as they have been psychologically skullfucked.

I wonder what would happen if practically any Boomer had their TV (and Facebook) access removed. It wouldn't surprise me if it'd be akin to a drug addict going cold turkey having withdrawal symptoms. And these are the same people who get on younger generations for being glued to screens and accuse them of believing whatever they see on them. - The mentality is "It's on the news, and they don't joke around and can't tell lies."

And that "full volume" thing is 100% real as well. Complete lack of regard for others because the TV is their whole life.

It's a legitimate problem! I've got friends whose 70s-80s parents are fucking completely ADDICTED to their phones now ever since the pandemic.

Like sitting there with grandkids but completely ignoring them to play phone slots for HOURS! My friends are fucking pissed that they're watching their parents melt into a fucking puddle right in front of their eyes. AI is like crack to boomers.

TL;DR - negroid in his 70's gets a text message from an AI-generated chink, loses all of his money in an investment scam, and he has a hard time believing it's a scam until his son convinces him.

I know of a boomer who's kin is just waiting for her to die yet she holds on somehow. She sent like 250,000 dollars to a "boyfriend" in Nigeria or something. I thank God that I have gen x parents and not boomers bc Idk how I'd be able to honor them if they do dumb shit like that.
 
I've just realised a very typical Boomer behaviour from my youth:
Boomer: "You need to learn how to (do thing)."
No actual advice or instruction on how to do it. But the Boomer has played his part, and will get mad at/be disappointed with you when you still don't know how to Do Thing, after the Boomer said you needed to learn it.

Reminder that one day you will inherit a mountain of trash from boomers, because they had the „it could be useful one day” mentality towards every long obsolete piece of trash :)

If there's one thing you lear(n) from that it's that parents that pass knowledge down have locked in on the responsibilty of parenting.

Those that don't pass stuff down such as changing tires by yourself or where the jumper cables have to go have always let someone else do it for them.

The worst part is either throwing it out yourself or hiring people to do it. One way or another its gonna cost money.
