Does anybody here deal with boomer parents that retired and just aren't doing anything with all the free time? And then complain they are bored?

Maybe it's a reflection of who they are as people, if they ever had any hobbies or saved any money properly. All my dad does now is watch Fox news morning, afternoon and evening, I complained to him about this and even though I tried bringing this up as him watching too much TV he thought I was antagonizing his political views and then said he gets to "enjoy retirement" however he wants. I know he wishes he had more money to travel, he manages to do it a little bit since he went to Italy not long ago but the rest of the year it's all just him sitting in front of the news channel. At least he gets social security checks to save for more trips but he could pick up a hobby...

Mom does this with her phone, she just watches tiktok and youtube conspirancy videos. It's worth mentioning they don't live together and don't have friends.
It's interesting how they don't ask me for kids, in fact they said they won't help with any if I have them which is bad news for me since they are in my set of plans.

I don't expect anything from them anymore, surprisingly my husband's family is good with kids and his parents help his sister with her children but:

I've heard so many stories of Boomers behaving this way, as if they had anything good planned for retirement that's more important than caring for the future of their family. At least they get to retire.

Meanwhile, these types turn around and do this. Is every Boomer like this? No, there's no such thing as absolutes, but most of them I've seen are like this. Silent Gens behave exactly like Boomers but minus the hedonism. Not to mention how immediately loud they get when you talk about WW2 objectively, it's like it flips a dormant propaganda switch on in their minds. I have seen a relative in her 90's go from calm to shouting as loudly as she can over the Holocaust within five seconds.

That type of Boomer/Silent Gen will scream their heads off over Ukraine, but at the same time they think Nam was a disaster. And they expect their seed to get shipped over there to be a bullet sponge because of their 80 year old Fascist bogeyman dancing around their heads. It's repulsive, disgusting behavior and very much a "cowboys and Indians" way a child would view the world or an urbanite NPC who loves Marvel slop. It takes a lot of nerve to be incredibly naive and at the same time so arrogant because you think you're well-informed because the man on the TV lied to you again, and you believe every word of it without question.

I love the moron complaining about cents when the items on the store shelves are going up $. Its a lack of grip with reality it must be. My mom is like this, though she's gen x rather than a boomer, as she got older she became a much worse person to be around, very antisocial and arrogant, she used to have a great social life, and went to church every Sunday, but she regressed quickly once she went past 50 (not exactly that age, the decline was around that time period though)

You just don't hate boomers enough. They had everything; a support system, a great economy, a great life.

They're the ones deciding that you're not good enough and need to be replaced with shitskins. They're the ones that say the Americans are lazy and entitled for partaking IN THE SAME SYSTEMS AND BENEFITS they had.

The same system they enjoyed that allowed them to flourish; they decided you shouldn't have it because their numbers don't add up. So, instead of you having a great life and a good job, you get replaced by shitskins because you want just half of what they had.

My mom is also like this, she fucking despises video games (to be fair I do play a bit too much), but she will literally spend the whole day watching tv, not even new shows, just reruns of the same shows over and over again.

This is most prevalent and bizarre example of boomer hypocrisy I can think of. Is it just a parent thing, not liking or tolerating the behaviors in their kids that reflect poorly on them?

The worst part is that boomers tend to just watch the same old shit over and over again, never anything new.
 
It won't end with boomers. Millenials will somehow be worse off because they will both look down on the zoomers they failed to raise while also justifiably believing they are finally getting what they deserve once the Great Boomer Die-off happens.

I avoid going home specifically for this reason. Home is so dark and quiet since it is just my parents and the only sound is sportsball, occasional R&B music, or Sean Hannity on TV. I don't actually despise my boomer parents despite that reality being a vast majority of my formative years because I just can't hold a grudge like that and expect to healthily move on to being a better person, but it is honestly such a depressing generation.

My parents are honestly the epitome of it outside of not being as rampant consumers as their handful of friends. No fucking hobbies, no adventures, nothing. Instead of going into debt and blowing their savings on anything and everything, they at least have some nebulous amount of money now that they aren't 100+k in debt like they were all throughout me and my brother's childhoods, but they still act real snobby when they see their boomer friends on some cruise or at a beach house. It's a really scary side to see from them because I really can't tell if they are like that towards me and my brothers (and I know how they feel about some of my brothers from remarks they make).

I like being Gen-X because we don't get hated on very much online because we got right out front of that trend by hating our own guts so much.
 
I'm glad there's a Boomer hate thread here. I personally severely disagree with them having a "great economy," because my Boomers came of age in the 70s, the time of stagflation and long gas lines. Also my mother dropped the n word IRL more than I do and redpilled me on Jews at an early age and said the National Guard should never have been called out to forcibly desegregate schools. (She grew up in a nice White area and wished she could have had that for me)

I used to go on r/boomersbeingfools but they keep posting GenXers and below there because drumpf.
 
Brother was at the bank and witnessed a boomer have a complete meltdown because it took a measly ten minutes to get to the bank teller in a line of seven people. He was openly complaining about the fact that there was an open, empty teller spot and was demanding someone on staff fill the spot to make things quicker.
