Not even restricted to just boomerlibs (though boomerlibs do it much more frequently); even otherwise right-leaning boomercons will do that shit.

It's like some oldhead merit badge or trading card they can show off to their friends:

To the nigger that turned off his replies 2 pages back cars are significantly worse than they were 25 years ago, even 10 years ago cars were better. Alot of the newer cars are harder to work on, not just because they tuck the engine into the engine bay but also because the them slap plastic shit all over it and it becomes a maze of wires and plastic trim pieces. The manufacturers purposely make it hard to find replacement parts so they can have dealerships have the monopoly on maintenance, repairs and servicing you vehicle. Independent mechanic shops and the average joe have a harder time getting the parts and the parts that are available are overpriced and shit. Ford is charging over 1000 dollars for a taillight assembly for the newer F150s, so unless you live near a junkyard be prepared to burn a hole in your wallet. Not to mention that modern parts are shit, they make oil plans out of plastic, slap CVTs into heavy ass SUVs that kill them and make stuff less serviceable. You can't replace a bushing on a control arm, you have to buy the entire control arm with the bushing in it. Not to mention the average new car is unaffordable for alot of people.

You will not see many 2020+ cars on the road in 20 years like you have seen 90s and 2000s cars still on the road. My beater Honda Civic is far more reliable, serviceable and cheap to keep it on the road than the pieces of shit car companies plop out on the road. Boomers are the only people who can afford the get a new car with our going into debt to get one.
 
I’ve driven by used car dealerships selling late 2000s model vehicles for $2-3k. I think a big factor of used cars these days are the rise of buy here, pay here dealerships that prefer to have one car get sold numerous times, the rise of Carmax dealerships that have big used car lots versus smaller dealerships, and then social media makes it easier for cars to get sold without involving dealerships at all. In all three scenarios, there’s more incentive to sell newer used cars where more money can be made. Thanks to inflation, it’s not worth anyone’s time to make a couple hundred bucks off of a sale. Not anyone who stays in business anyway.

Realistically 20 years is a lot of wear and tear for cars. I know when I got my first car in high school, anything older than ten years looked like it was going to fall apart just looking at it. My first used car was ten years old for $2,500. With inflation and all that, it’d probably be $5-6k these days.

Boomer just tried to open the office door that was locked multiple times despite a sign saying we close for lunch. Immediately freaked out on our receptionists and then stormed out. Even denied that he was trying to open the door despite seeing him do it clear as day.

And every gun store they run is the most obnoxious side hobby/scam combo where they despise having to actually do anything related to buying or selling.

It's just paying a massive fuck you premium of fees and keeping the lights on all to have a shittier version of a lodge and club house.

Bethany Michel said that “155 geriatric-aged residents” are being asked to foot the legal bills from the HOA dead set on removing her from the Arbor Mill retirement community in Jacksonville, she said on TikTok on Monday.

“There is a 55-plus community that is so eager to get rid of one of their non-55 residents, myself, that on Wednesday, in order to sue me out of my own home, they’re asking 155 residents on fixed incomes to do a mandatory $1,000 assessment,” Michel said.

Michel, who hosts a podcast and reviews restaurants, has been living in the retirement community since moving to the Sunshine State in 2020 to care for her terminally ill father during the COVID pandemic.

She inherited the home after her father died in 2023, and residents haven’t been pleased with their younger neighbor.

“So not only do I have to pay my own attorney to defend me against these f–kers trying to sue me out of my own home, but I also have to pay the thousand dollar assessment,” she said. “I have to pay both sides. I have to pay them to help sue myself.”"
 
I've finally come to the realization that most baby boomers actually can't cook for shit. This is almost exclusively a NA problem, too. It makes perfect sense though. They grew up in a time where, despite their parents usually being amazing cooks, going out for dinner was cheap and convenient and a lot of the food they grew up with was premade and highly processed. You didn't need to know how to cook for yourself because everything you needed came in a box that you simply needed to microwave it. The more I think about it, the more I am reminded of visiting older people and having dinners consisting of over-cooked, dry meat, bland, starchy mash potatoes, and some variety of bland steamed veggies.

Mashed potatoes will always be fucking peak, but yes they always eat food that is flat out disgusting or overcooked to the point where you could use it as a hockey puck. I would have some family members ask me in the past, "Is this cooked?" if there's a slight amount of pink in it. Like yes, that's how it's supposed to be.

My late grandmother on my dad's side was notoriously disgusting when it came to taste and food choices, would always insist on spiral ham or bland fucking ham for every Easter or Christmas meal. I would just refuse to eat it, because again, bland and gross, plus ham (and most pork) just doesn't agree with me.

Just a note, I love mashed potatoes too, but it needs warm milk and a bit of butter so it adds flavor and fluffiness. The thing boomers do is essentially take a bland baked potato and mash it as is. Another starchy side dish they always fuck up is rice. Maybe it's too oriental for them to get a grasp of? idk

As someone who's worked at 3 thrift stores and now at a used bookstore where we buy people's old books, there are so many fucking old people that have been holding onto old valueless bullshit (to flip) and also hunting for old wortless bullshit (to (try to) flip) all simply because Antiques Roadshow convinced them Old = Valuable. That shoe was the beginning if the end tbh. They will bring in absolutely nothing of value and then act disappointed when you can't offer them what they paid for them retail. On the other hand, there will always be these old fucks who will come in REGULARLY and constantly be looking for Old Things™️, Video Games™️, "Anime Books", and overall anything they think they can resell or hustle with.

There's also a weirdly boomer specific trait in which they all insist that their leftovers (books, media, collectibles, etc) "Be used by someone". They will hand you straight up garbage and insist it has value. It's insane and some of the most arrogant, disrespectful shit I've ever encountered.

Also, my favorite boomer thrift store memory is one where this old man drives up to Donation Drop Off in a truck and is decked out in gloves and masks (this was 2020 in prime koof) and as my partner and I were approaching to ask if he needed help unloading, this asshole starts yelling at us to "STAY AWAY, STAY WAY OVER THERE, DON'T COME NEAR ME, I'LL SET IT (it was a milk crate full of tools covered in dirt and spiderweb) DOWN" he just kept looping versions of that so my partner and I just stood against the wall and watched him huff and puff plop the garbage on the ground. He then turns around and asks us if we could give him his tax write off form now. Like, motherfucker, that requires me to get near you.

Second favorite story is when this boomer drove up in a massive pickem up truck and then drove it right into our dumpster/metal recycling because he accelerated instead of breaking.
