Here in my country, boomers (and the older end of Gen X) are very much into right-wing populism. That's a key reason why the younger generations are generally ambivalent towards, or distrustful of them here. (Well, to be fair a few similarly aged mates and acquaintances are also sympathetic to that kind of politics, but they're not really the norm...)
Many of them are NIMBYs who want to stop houses from getting built, making it even harder for people like me to buy a house than it otherwise would be just so their house prices don't go down. It's greed, plain and simple, and it's part and parcel of the kneejerk reactionary mindset. Seeing some of them blatantly advocate for pensioners to be sheltered from taxes also gets my goat, everyone has to contribute to society whether they like it or not. It's like they want to opt out of civilisation and have the burden of maintaining it be borne only by those younger than them. The serious freakout over just £300 a year - A YEAR - being taken away was a display of gross entitlement that they wouldn't tolerate from any other person. They had multiple decades to save up for retirement, there is no excuse for this.
I daren't say this publicly in real life, and this is probably the only time I'll ever vent this opinion, but I'll be glad to see that specific generation gone. Let's hope my generation can be better people than this and encourage their children to not descend into this same sort of decadence.
