So in other words, they are terrible at cooking for the same reasons why they're tech illiterate.

It's just general incompetence, not cooking or tech specifically. and being too proud to admit it.
Ugh awful take.

My grandma of silent used to make the best fried spam and squash, and my mom to this day best roast beef. Just no. X and less are shitty fucking cooks and the women can't do it at all.

You can be elitist morons on tech (I got on TOR yeee) or whatever, but 2 things you can't beat older styles on are clothing and food.

Here in my country, boomers (and the older end of Gen X) are very much into right-wing populism. That's a key reason why the younger generations are generally ambivalent towards, or distrustful of them here. (Well, to be fair a few similarly aged mates and acquaintances are also sympathetic to that kind of politics, but they're not really the norm...)

Many of them are NIMBYs who want to stop houses from getting built, making it even harder for people like me to buy a house than it otherwise would be just so their house prices don't go down. It's greed, plain and simple, and it's part and parcel of the kneejerk reactionary mindset. Seeing some of them blatantly advocate for pensioners to be sheltered from taxes also gets my goat, everyone has to contribute to society whether they like it or not. It's like they want to opt out of civilisation and have the burden of maintaining it be borne only by those younger than them. The serious freakout over just £300 a year - A YEAR - being taken away was a display of gross entitlement that they wouldn't tolerate from any other person. They had multiple decades to save up for retirement, there is no excuse for this.

I daren't say this publicly in real life, and this is probably the only time I'll ever vent this opinion, but I'll be glad to see that specific generation gone. Let's hope my generation can be better people than this and encourage their children to not descend into this same sort of decadence.
Funny, when you said "my country" I thought you meant America, until I saw that £

Which servile cunt sponsored a ten year old thread

He went on an anti-boomer rant, when he's not a spring chicken himself.

I think we need to make this about how we love our grandparents now, and the good things they passed on. I really dislike agism as a 'meme'.

The "nanny state" pre-boomers founded was not the same as today, it's the boomers that expanded it.

Pre-boomer nanny state was about looking after people who came back with limbs missing and war injuries. They should have been looked after as I'm sure people agree that genuinely disabled people should be looked after.

It's the boomers that expanded these programs to include the fats, mental illness, alcoholics, homeless etc. It wasn't the pre-boomers. They laid out a good plan, the boomers fucked it.
Counter-point--wasn't Boomers that passed the Great Society, Hart-Celler, created affirmative action race quotas, or implemented an entire generation of the some of the worst Supreme Court decisions in the country's history. That was the Silent generation. The Silent generation also supported those expansions the Boomers implemented, because they thought it was the "natural progression" of the programs.

Just because the Boomers overloaded the system--a strategy that was also conceived by the Silent generation (Cloward-Piven)--doesn't mean the Silents didn't lay a foundation that was deliberately designed to enable the worst of Boomer entitlement and ideologies.

it's funny that a few boomers found the thread, boomer post in it, get mocked and ignored, and discussion just continues about how much we hate them.

Their excuses are hilarious.

Now I can't help but wonder why boomers are so terrible at cooking.

I will never understand people who are bad at cooking. All you have to do is follow a list of written instructions, that's all.

They refuse to use fresh ingredients and only buy canned/frozen goods for the most part because they think it's saving them thousands of dollars, the same reason they cause nightmare scenarios for wagies in the checkout trying to use ten thousand coupons that are expired or for entirely different stores and then want to write a fucking check at the end of the entire ordeal. Then they go home and empty their canned carrots into a bowl and put it in the microwave and slop it down while watching mainstream news in their 6 bedroom home that they bought for 75k that only 2 people live in. THEN they smirk to themselves about how youngins' can't afford a house because they buy fresh carrots and not canned carrots, those dummies.

There is no need for Zoomer and Millennial hate threads because this forum is already dedicated to that.

>The clan boomers have a secret recipe book for my family that goes back for generations.
>it’s impossible to recreate
>or so we thought.
>We find the original, a bunch of notes scribbled down on my great great grandmothers deathbed, painstakingly explaining what to do
>gggrandma told them “boil until it makes a soft ball in water” and they didn’t understood what that meant so they just asked her for time estimates
>they’ve been putting the wrong kind of milk on the wrong kind of stove and gunning that shit without stirring.
>we nail it first try.
>They ask us how we did it, we get scoffed at and told shit like “GGGma never needed a thermometer”

I think this is sort of a microcosm of society as a whole ya know?

Don't forget, the wars boomers fought in were kinda fucked and don't have the same cultural mythos as WW1/2.
Their parents fought in wars and were heroes. WW1, WW2, Korea. They fought in Vietnam and were lumped in with the murderers and rapists at My Lai. Plus, they lost.
My father was and still is under the impression that if a computer freezes, all he has to do is lift up the keyboard and drop it, and it'll unfreeze the computer.

He also still doesn't understand how to set up a printer.
Steve Jobs is the devil, and he was correct in honing in on the boomer demographic. Apples were always designed for people that can't into computers, and Jobs hated the idea of vents and buttons on things, which is why Apple's quick fix for the Apple III's heat issues causing chips to unseat, was to pick it up and drop it. That is why intuition degraded to the point where we swipe to navigate a phone.

Obviously some Boomers have the magic touch of cooking, but the vast majority alternate between bland slop and processed slop.
I cannot blame Boomers for not wanting to experiment in the kitchen, given how their parents were putting literally fucking everything they could find in aspic. Would YOU ever want to cook if your parents' idea of a "fancy" or "futuristic" meal is spam and vegetables in Lime Jell-O with extra mayonnaise and half your meals were on the level of horror of Aunt Myrna's Party Cheese Salad? How would you even LEARN to cook competently if that's the weird dietary trend your retarded mother is chasing? If the 70s and 80s were the culinary equivalent of the Medieval Era, the 50s and 60s were the fucking Fall of Rome.

They developed and/or learned all of those things as young adults though. Boomers can only learn how to pull a lever on a slot machine like a dog learns how to lick from a bowl.

This is the most Reddit coated thread I have seen featured on this fucking site. Like retards the march of time will get us all. Why don't I just complain about the "greatest generation" too you know all 20 of them left.

Now millennials and Gen X's on the other hand......
Millennials and Boomers are the exact same once you peel them down to their general characteristics:
- refuse to take accountability for their mistakes and expect gubmint handouts
- pretend to be revolutionaries while being played like a fiddle
- can't, for the love of fucking God, act sincere for 5 minutes
- can't help those close to them, either shaking their fist at some imaginary boogeyman or handwaving it all away as irrelevant noise
- think they're hot shit because of the novelty of the 60s-70s and the 90s while completely forgetting that both Gen X and Gen Z had to go through the exact same things

That's from what I've seen of Americans, though. Eastern Bloc Millennials are more like Gen X and Boomers are an entirely different animal of their own here.
