An American Boomer will honk his car or fatmobile at you, but will otherwise have a somewhat civilized notion of traffic. They've had cars and scooters for a while, so they generally know how to handle them, from what I've seen.

Aspics were a very odd thing that spawned out of widely available and effective refrigeration. That and the war making people come to really like gelatin. So many people suddenly having more wealth (in comparison) means these things just got made. That and every single food product company was trying to invent new ways to use their goods.

Even if this IS accurate, I want you to go watch the Party Cheese Salad video, and imagine what having such an eldritch food abomination on your table every time you go to eat does to your psyche. After being around such dietary atrocities, I know I'd suddenly be put off the idea of creative culinary creations.
I think alot of picky eating was simply from Boomers being bad cooks.
Few fats used, nothing baked or fried, little to no salt, every meat overcooked. Kids naturally gravitated to pre-packaged and salty foods or takeout that actually did use these basic techniques. Chicken nuggets have instructions and sauces so its hard to overcook them and they are salty. That alone makes them better than most Boomer cuisine.
Obviously some Boomers have the magic touch of cooking, but the vast majority alternate between bland slop and processed slop.
Boomers also have a problem of using expired/stale food and chicken nuggets take much longer to degenerate to that point.
Oh yeah it 100% is that. Mom is, or was really, a picky eater. Literally only ate a few things and would tell me she hated so much stuff to eat. It took me cooking the things she "hated" for her so she could realize she didn't hate them, but hated the way my grandma prepared them.

my family has some heinous apple cinnamon celery cream cheese walnut jello salad from someone who died before i was born and it's actually pretty good but definitely scraping the barrel of what was avaliable in a 1940's kitchen for sure. i think that's why they went crazy for french cooking because you dont actually need any ingredients

Gen X I think most historians and economists debate if they had it better or worse than boomers, but it's almost universally agreed upon Millennials had it far worse than boomers. I can only speak for my country the UK but the boomers built shit here. Most of the housing was built pre-WW2 and the post war construction boom of both housing and infrastructure was built by the Greatest and Silent Generations. The boomers where at best late teens when the post war reconstruction was happening. Everything the boomers built sucks ass. Grey rotting brutalist concrete and rusted Chinese steel as far as the eye can see. It's even better because these assholes never maintained or replaced anything. They just put that off on to the future.
