Hopefully in the pending nightmare future I'll be able to get out a "hey I'm just a Xennial" to the gangs of enraged alpha/zoomers throwing my grey ass to the pavement and going Rodney King on me because of boomers. Yet another reason to hate boomers.
That's the thing Millennials and older zoomers need to start to think about, themselves. Being between 30s and 40s, they have now a time window of about a bit less then a decade to either fundamentally reform the system (which is practically impossible with the demographic setup in a so called "democracy") or do everything in their power to burn BoomerX Rome to the ground sustainably.

Its possible to rebuild from nothing in your 30s to mid 40s, once to hit the 50s, you are fucked. That's also why GenX in its entirety is now fundamentally an enemy of humanity, same as the Boomer.

If you're educated, living indoors with food in your stomach, some sort of healthcare allowing you to be free from pain, have a few coins jingling around to spend on funko pops, camgirls or goyslop you aren't about to trade that in for the sheer misery of a revolt with no clear outcome. Add legal recreational drugs to that and forget it.

Maybe zoomer psychos will get together and do something lol but for mllenials I think the window has already passed. They are joining the gerontocracy just like GenX. All it takes is a few bucks and suddenly getting zeroed out isn't so hot. Millenials stand to inherit the most and will wield tremendous political power just in time for their own aging and decline. I have a very hard time beliving that isn't about to turn into boomerism 2.0 after watching my own "Vote With a Bullet" GenX goygang turn out to be not so shootey.

Millenials stand to inherit the most and will wield tremendous political power
That is a narrative, that was used for a quarter century to keep Millenials from revolting/defecting during their teens and 20s and bait them into cooperating as accepting wages that have been stagnant to declining for 40 years, and to some degree I agree, it worked; about half of Millenials were fooled, primarily women, the single career cat ladies in their late 30s to mid 40s in bullshit quota jobs that are currently between hooked on antidepressants, suicide and cat shit eating instant Ramen.

The reality of the matter is that the "great wealth transfer" is realistically 15-20 years away, so when Millenials are in their 50s/60s, and there is no wealth being transferred but mostly debt and liabilities. On the individual level the 4 times re-mortgaged devaluing concrete-wood box of the Boomer including taxes and an illiquid market, and the Boomers in real term deflationary ponzifolios, not to forget the costs to care for and burry the Boomer contrary to send them to the wood to die to be eaten by wildlife. On the political scale, same thing, all the BoomerX is leaving is debt and liabilites, completely uncovered, irrealistic to ever deflate on top of over the past 50 years legislated entitlements and other polity scams based on assumed future productivity, demand and reproduction that never occured. So what Millenials are actually inheriting is a pile of crap with no demand for and political organization that are unable to act, so a failed state and a failed ponziconomy that cannot be reformed, but has to be demolished one or another way.

the sheer misery of a revolt
There won't be a revolution; a revolution requires one of two things at the very least, better the two things — either a broadly accepted and trusted alternative on how to organize and govern a territory leading a majority to self regulate or a large coherent enough group of people able to apply violence that can compete on a territorial scale with the current group having the dominant violence ability and coerce a majority into following their norms.

The first is impossible due to the dead of broadcast media propagandas ability to fabricate conensus on a large scale; there is no single alternative that would be able to gain even 15-20% support after the 2010s. The second is the great unknown. Is any coherent group over the next decade going to be able to convince enough people, and here the young Zoomers and older GenA become more important, to take up arms, conduct targeted terror attacks and assassinations as control territory on a large enough scale to compete with the diminishing recruitment and violence potential of the on average 58 year old field mercenaries of the current state.

The evidence today says no, the violence potential is as fractured and atomized as the trust potential, and extrapolating the current drive toward violence suggests that the future of the western political hemisphere is the same as that of the average failed African state: Uncountable, unstable local, regional and national acting groups that have various degree of influence over territory and people, with the current state still formally existing on paper but its control over the territory and people being heavily limited.

GenX was the last gen that could have turned around the trajectory in the early 10s, by simply not taking the 0% bait, by that crashing the FIAT GDP fetish ponzi-pyramid and refusing to integrate, they as an entire generation fucked that up for good and their punishment is that they are too old, weak and poor to survive state failure, let alone rebuild anything on any scale. For Millenials and Zoomers the realistic way to "turn around" the BoomerX shitshow is pure defection on a local scale, building now the pockets of order to weather the storm of a state that is deterministically going to fail. Those that are still not getting it and are kept docile and content with consumerism and distractions are going to have a very bad time in the 2030s.

They appointed the Silent Generation. You cannot be a boomer because the boomers were born after WW2. I'm calling you an idiot.
I was just asking to clarify. You are being autistic obsessing over the specific date that the generation is said to have started.

People effected by the great depression should have had help to ameliorate the poverty that it caused. Pre-boomers and boomers have had a long life and lived though lower inflation and have had plenty of time to get their act together to pay for their own retirement. Subsidising the elderly is a noose around the neck younger generations.

A gift from the Indian Hate thread:

Current tends mean that native borns will never be able to rise to the level that boomers had. Saying otherwise is a cope and denialism of the current reality. We are already seeing young people not able to achieve the same level of wealth and status as their boomer counter parts when the young people now are the same age as the boomers were when they achieved those things. It will only intensify as time continues. The boomers will never recognise their error and will continue gaslight their children and grand children for failing to achieve the same wealth and status they assume they should have at the young people's age.

We can hate on genx for many things but we live in a democracy.
The amount of Gen-X hate here makes me think they should just start a Gen-X hate thread if there isn't one already.

"Vote With a Bullet" GenX goygang turn out to be not so shootey.
Ha! That was actually funny. You should start a Gen-X hate thread.

I think a lot of folks don't understand how small this generation is in comparison to others. Abortion became really fashionable with boomer women and I know I'm not the only one who has siblings they'll never know. It's really sad. It also doesn't help when boomer law makers die in office and the other boomers lie about it for weeks or months because it's midterm election year and they have an agenda.

That is sad, but on top of abortion, many boomers delayed having kids at all, and thus birthed millennials instead of Xers.

It's definately played up in the finance media but there's also a degree of truth to it. Money somewhere somehow, is making its way down. Won't be as much as being claimed I'd agree but enough. If you're in that good times bucket you're not going to be overthrowing the system odds are you'll work for and support it. Gaurd it with life & limb if need be. Age or cohort unimportatnt.

Things are setup to go quite badly in terms of crashes been that way since 2008 at least yet it persists on magic money printing and enforcement by Carrier group. How much longer it can continue... what if it can last your lifespan? Everyone at the right end of it seems very fond of rent seeking capitalism and AI style circular funding in the current moment. I see no end to the chicanery that should have ended everyone involved several times over by now and had banker heads on pikes.

This puts a lot of faith into the intent and competency level of GenX leadership that is currently in their early 60s and generation jones boomers that are retiring and not retiring now. They are all about as boomer as a '46er except 20 IQ points higher by baseline and elite educated rather than a good handshake. I don't think their plan was ever to break the system they worked their whole life to take a piece of. 2008 was brutal for a good amount of people this age then boomer magic 'fixed' it all overnight with the stroke of a central bank pen. I think that's exactly when many of them "saw the light".

I can only assume the plan is to plod along until a massive global failure or financial war combined with a poorly timed plandemic of some kind puts an end to boomery money printing. Then all bets are off but fact remains once simple people have a taste of gaining wealth out of thin air they'll become boomer blind to the ethics and sustainability of it.

I recently watched Born on the 4th of July. It's about boomer Vietnam vet turned anti-war activist Ron Kovic, co-written and directed by fellow boomer Vietnam vet and maker of boomer movies, Oliver Stone. The scenes where Kovic begins to develop an anti-war outlook reminded me of Bruce Cannon Gibney's book A Generation of Sociopaths: How the Baby Boomers Betrayed America.

In the movie, Kovic changes his opinions about the war because of his exposure to white college liberals who care deeply about the welfare of the Vietnamese and to poor black vets who didn't have the privilege of escaping the draft speaking at campus protests.

It's standard Vietnam-War-goes-to-the-movies fare but Gibney's book brings all the data to show that the prime motivator for campus protests was really a self-centered objection to curtailing student deferments. Once deferments were secured and fortunate/middle-class sons were practically guaranteed to avoid combat, all protests about the exploited Vietnamese and lower class Americans came to an abrupt halt. The college boomers were only looking out for themselves but were selling their agenda on the backs of people they would abandon once they no longer had rhetorical use for them.

In fact, Gibney also brings the data to show that educated young boomers were the most militant cohort and the least likely to view the Vietnam war as a mistake for most of the war. It wasn't until they suddenly realized that curtailing deferments meant that they were more likely be drafted that they radically changed their opinion. Until then, they were more than happy to feed others into the machine.

Of course, a boomer movie about boomer virtue and boomer wisdom isn't going to tell that story. Boomers gonna boomer.

hmm, I smell a boomer, lets check the post history

Interesting a song that says "God is an American" gets censored Jewtube while tiny-headed idiots like Hasan Pikey are allowed to scream for genocide all along while torturing a dog with a vile shock collar.

The idea that united states used to be a "high trust society" is a modern propaganda invention. Boomers lie all the time about things that don't even make sense to lie about. They are clearly so comfortable doing this that they must have been lying like this their entire lives. How could the united states actually have been "high trust" if the average person knows everybody lies constantly and you yourself, as a boomer, lie all the time too. Any rational person would not trust people who are pathologically dishonest in a society where nobody is strait with you about anything. The boomers in the past would get away with lying more, but they would have to be found out at some point and then any trust they have built up destroyed by the glaring fact that it was all based on false representations. I know people lie a lot now too and that in certain cultures dishonestly in very common. I'm not naive to these facts. I have know boomers who will get very upset with you when you tell them that they are lying; they expect to be believed without question all the crazy shit they say. They get very offended and have a little pity party about it, a sort of tantrum, if they receive any push back. They themselves are casually dishonest. They also will accuse you of lying even when you are telling the truth, just because they don't like or don't understand what you are saying. It's this game they play: They are always honest, and throw a little tantrum about how they never lie, if you call them out on their bullshit. However at the same time they attack you and other people for lying without evidence. They expect and get very upset if they are not automatically believed, but at the same time expect other people to not be entirely honest. The "high trust society" narrative has to be a modern invention to re-enforce boomers existing arrogance about their own perceived honesty which is a head-cannon fantasy that they maintain about themselves.

Imagine not knowing the difference between The Great War and WW2. Dumbass Boomer. Or maybe it's just American conceit. "That war was the Greatest, because WE won it!"

@Lord of the Large Pants
I've worked in tech my entire career, and for all those years I have failed to teach my boomer mother how to drag and drop a document to a flash drive.
That's nothing - my Boomer mother will use a digital camera to take a photo of a picture on a monitor.

Living paycheck to paycheck and hearing my mother tell me how she doesn't like having less than $10k in her account... if she thinks her ashes are ending up anywhere other than the nearest fucking dumpster, she's cooked.

High trust doesn't mean individual not to lie.

It's about trusting institutions to fulfil their purpose. It's about trusting society as a whole. It's about leaving your front door unlocked. There are still pockets of high trust left in some areas. If you see unlocked bikes on the driveway or purses left in cars you are in such a pocket. If you see unmanned produce stands you are in such an area.

Those areas used to be everywhere but the center of bughives.
