For me to save for a down payment on some of the houses in my area, I would have to save for 10-15 years, if starting from $0 or couple grand. That's assuming that housing prices stay the same as well.

Rent prices are practically the same as most mortgage payments and many renters are dishing out about 50% of their net income just to be there. And yes, some of these places are the cheapest rents in the area.

No, I don't want to deal with a bumfuck roommate who I have no interest in being friends with.

"Just eat cheap meals from Walmart."
