Ministers considering reducing self-isolation period - Boris Johnson​

Boris Johnson confirms that ministers are considering reducing the self-isolation period for fully vaccinated people who test positive for COVID.

The prime minister says: "There's a similar argument to be had about the quarantine period - whether to come down from seven days to five days.

"The thing to do is to look at the science. We are looking at that and we will act according to the science."

German health minister casts doubt on ability of lateral flow tests to detect Omicron​

Germany's health minister has cast doubt on the ability of lateral flow tests to detect Omicron.

The country is launching a study to assess their reliability when it comes to the variant, with the results expected in the next few weeks.

Health minister Karl Lauterbach said: "We do not know exactly how well these tests work for Omicron."
