you have to understand that the communist conception of human nature is completely different than what you conceive it to be. They believe, that given there is no corrupting influence fascism or whatever their bogeyman is, humans can naturally form these communes and live and harmony with nature. So this is entirely without contradiction. They just believe society can be that way because humans are that way.

If you want to know exactly what they think, you actually already know it because it has been drilled into you by pop culture and "education." The idea that everyone is equal and rational and given the correct information and upbringing anybody can become the new-reddit-man

That is the exact same mentality which lead to "The New Soviet Man" which was the Gulags, the killings and repression of Mao's Cultural revolution, and the Killing Fields of Pol Pot's deranged Year Zero. Other examples exist but if their examples keep leading to repression you'd think they be against that.

Hell the one's that believe human nature is just and that owning property is alien force, I laugh at them as even animals will piss on trees to mark territory, horde food for them and their family, even take on mass harems of females proving that even in most primal nature that the concept of private property exists and these mongolids are wrong

I think a couple admitted they see themselves as working in a think tank or as a powerful bureaucrat but it doesn't seem they are willing to sacrifice their income and status which betrays their advertised ideology. Zero books seems to suggest that. Then again that seems to be fairly consistent among marxist academics.

I feel this mirrors what Ted was describing with surrogate activities in somewhat similar ways to what this podcast is describing as an over saturation of fake elites and a hyper competitive job market for those with degrees which produces resentment and rage against the system when jobs have 200 applicants but only one position, it’s quite interesting. I stumbled on it and was compelled to listen the whole way through. It sounds like a reasonable connection of dots pointing to where this flurry of activity we are seeing in the culture is coming from. I consider myself to be nominally on the left but I like to use critical thinking and try to look at different perspectives.

Edit: From personal experience I remember how educators used to always say you don’t want to be stuck working at McDonalds so you all need a degree to get a good job. Looking back now I despise that snobbish attitude, not everyone needs to be getting a degree and people shouldn’t be told they are any less if they don’t, it is one of the last openly acceptable forms of prejudice in society IMO. Ironically China the world’s factory is lacking blue collar workers now because they also pushed the same stigma about low status labour and now young students are being let down being told to become blue collar workers after having struggled for their degrees. It’s actually triggering mass protests from young students who have had their white collar degrees merged with trades.
