So the more I look into Breadtube and mull over it, I become increasingly more convinced that the oversaturation of these people and the interchangeability of their personalities and rhetoric will lead to their undoing. Much like the channel awesome guys and their imitators back in the day, people watching will eventually grow bored of the same schtick over and over become apathetic and move on. What I'm curious about and why I bring up CA in this case, in particular, is from what I've seen many of these guys have taken over that media review/analysis sub genre they used to inhabit. I wonder if their generally standoffish behavior and smug attitudes coupled with their constant and repetitive thinly veiled propagandizing will lead the kids watching this stuff and growing up in this climate to become apathetic to politics or just become super edgelords to spite them.

I've mentioned before I usually tend to lean to the left but I don't hate right leaning people nor agree with everyone on the left. People usually tend to get tired of being patronized and having ideologies shoved down their throats all the time. I really can't imagine what it's like to be 14 or 15 these days. When I was in high school whenever we talked like these guys it was in an ironic manner in a stupid cartoonish Russian accent whenever someone would wear an ushanka with a soviet badge on it to school. But talking like that unironically (minus the accents and vodka and grocery line jokes) is trendy these days and these guys are partially responsible for that. Any sane person realizes Nazis are bad that fascism is bad but, they also realize communism is bad and usually, propaganda is bad. Having differing opinions is fine its how democracy functions people will come to their own conclusions regardless of how much they preach. IMO, if they really give a shit they would stop being as exceptional as possible as often as possible and discuss their beliefs in an intellectually honest manner and stop being as conspiratorial and bat shit insane as their arch enemies the neo nazis. We all know that will never happen though, and it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining.

Propaganda wouldn't be effective if everyone was blatantly aware that it is propaganda. Oddly enough, people seem to recognize it better if its coming from a blatantly different viewpoint of their own, but have a much harder time when it confirms some sort of bias they already hold. Also the face of propaganda has changed due to the 24 hr news cycle and social media. People creating propaganda are yelling on twitter and making memes as if they're just normal people.

I agree social media has made it incredibly easy for propagandists and conspiracy theorists to play the scrappy underdog whos " the only one speaking the real truth man" and exploit parasocial relationships to their fullest abilities. To elaborate on my point slightly more a lot of younger people get really into youtube through game/show/movie/anime etc reviews and Breadtubes trying to take over that market, at least it feels that way. The thing to keep in mind is that for as much shit as we tend to give them kids arent dumb, at least not entirely. Like Fred Rogers once said," kids can spot a phony a mile away." There are many examples of adults who thought they were being slick about shoveling their propaganda down kids and young adults throats and they tend to backfire spectacularly. I think the breadtubers are heading down that same path and haven't realized it yet. Kids and teens are rebellious and unruly fuckers by nature and hate moral busybodies telling them how to think act or behave, that's why I feel the younger generations just won't put up with this shit laying down. I shudder to imagine what will come out in the next few years about these guys when the fad dies and literally generating controversy is all they have left to garner views and people they crossed in the past feel the coast is clear and it's safe to drop all the dirt they've been saving on them.

To be fair, Hammable has at least moved from filing their ipad, though apparently getting that change was like pulling teeth.

In Hammables recent videos he's using some generic screen recorder app from the play store. The ridiculous thing about this is you wouldn't be able to notice it was a video if you didn't go full screen and watch his wifi indicator flashing,


He very rarely actually plays any of the videos he's addressing preferring instead to just rant over a static paused frame from the video the entire runtime. I'm not sure what's funnier, the fact that he went out and found specific software and hardly attempted to use it, or that he was unaware that practicaly every android device has the ability to screenshot and record audio right out of the box, that's all you really need to make videos of his caliber. I agree though this is a big step forward for Hammable. Considering his last phone recorded tablet video was only uploaded a month ago.

Edit: also apparently the average viewership for an Alex stream is in the mid 30s now. Excellent career decisions , The 31 dollars bar is also a holdover from this weeks stream, so even the big time paypiggies are drying up.
