I just have to ask as this particular thing triggers such severe levels of autism in my very being... Why on earth does anyone think it's good or right to suggest that having more people with more guns being more willing to kill as is proper for anyone intending to use such a weapon in self defence will in course result in less killing?
I mean I have at least some understanding of the situation and I would not suggest it not right and proper if anyone of you should own a weapon to keep it well God forbid the time should ever come one might find this need for it in defence of self or loved ones or perhaps even just strangers in the night. This would be one's own business I find no reason to intervene in in of itself and even if God help me I did feel any kind of need to do so I'd certainly need a significant level of divine intervention to even make a dent. Also if we're honest, guns in of themselves are quite fascinating, some might even say somewhat artful and quite entertaining in the right circumstances.
This is not the question. The question is why have you turned the concept of escalation upside down and decided to pretend this finds it's root in anything other than the very same fear and cowardice I have seen others accusing people of who don't seem to them to feel this same apparent willingness to take the life of another human being even in of course strictly theoretical self-defence, or as I've seen put around here 'in minecraft', again God forbid it might ever come to that. Why would you suggest this of others if not that very insecurity which if I'm not mistaken is the exact thing you claim that gun you already own gives you?
If I were particularly philosophical I might ask some exceptionally rhetorical questions such as is it really the gun that protects you? Do guns really kill people? But even as I type this I see the circular nonsense emerging in my mind and remember why I dislike philosophy in general.
But while we are here still with these clearly exceptional internet people and their plainly exceptional internet happenings let's examine the concept of escalation for a small moment if I might seek your indulgence as such. Let's imagine our very exceptional fellow here has in an alternative universe decided to level up his exceptionally exceptional views by deciding to own a gun perhaps in response to his now dead stalker predeath. What is the first thing a fellow of such truly exceptional being does perhaps even before he leaves the store with his new purchase... Do you see where this is going?
