If he really wanted to "take down" Wendigoon, he could've just been like "Here's a whole video on why cryptozoology is bullshit and his conspiracy videos are debunked because this and that and the declassified government documents he cites don't really say that, and it's dangerous to promote these sort of conspiracies because..."

You're probably right that it would've had a tiny bit more weight behind it than whatever the fuck Zane actually did. However, from what I've seen Wendigoon has prepared for that scenario by simply saying that "these conspiracies aren't true, I don't subscribe to them, and I just think they're fun to talk about." It's pretty obvious the audience (most of the population) agrees with that stance so it wouldn't be compelling to anyone outside of lefty, breadtube consoomers.

If anything, the only reason why Zane didn't take that route is probably because:
  1. He felt it was out of his wheelhouse since he's a movie/media reviewer
  2. He felt it was artistically bankrupt because a bunch of other breadtubers have done it before
  3. He is an idiot and never considered the argument
  4. All of the above

As someone who was a political sperg back in that time, the term 'boogaloo' was genuinely a term used by libertarians in memes and such, it was an extremely popular term back then in lolbert circles, then when the extremism started ramping up, the term basically died in a matter of months. His explanation makes perfect sense as someone who basically did the same thing. (Posted/shared boogaloo memes and then distanced themselves when it got a little too real.)

Throwing out my own conspiracy theory here, this Zane dude does not act like somebody who came from nothing. He's seems like the kind of retard who believes he was poor because he wasn't quite as well off as the kids who were mean to him at school.

He speaks like more of a rich kid nonce than any of the blokes he named in his video. That level of pretentiousness and horrifying fashion sense is not something you'd expect from a ''man'' who grew up poooooooor.

I don't think it's that complicated - his popularity is waning, Wendigoon is doing way better, and this was his attempt to gatekeep Wendigoon out of the YouTube video essay horror sphere. The fact that Wendigoon is vaguely conservative, edits his videos a lot less, and is friends with online conservative personalities, is just fuel on the fire of bitterness this guy has, and ammunition for him to attack him.

This guy reminds me a bit of this other Breadtuber that Turkey Tom did a video on, Quinton Reviews, because a lot of the stuff he has said is just running defense for other Breadtubers that he wants the approval or sexual attention of. The same way Quinton Reviews ran defense for and heaped praise on Contra Points, Zane is doing the same for keffals and the others he mentioned in the video
